Here’s one I forgot to post from last year’s “Classic Breaks: ReEngineered” pack (2024’s best-selling pack on @loopmasters ! 🥇)
My recreation of the unmistakeable Amen break. This one was absolutely the most difficult of the bunch to get sounding anything like the real thing; it’s one of the most recognisable sounds of all time. My version is still miles off but I think it’s a nice alternative and punches pretty hard straight out the box. Once it’s chopped and pitched up to around 160bpm it starts to scratch that Amen itch!

I’ve been recording our baby’s heartbeat from the Doppler machine in all our midwife appointments for the last few months 👶🏻❤️ Noticed he had a solid shuffle going on here at 140bpm so I thought I’d play along. Our first collab 🤝 can’t wait to meet you, son - hurry up you’re late! by @rian_ogrady

Dialled in this fat sound for a session the other day. The actual song I was recording sounded nothing like this but I was just messing about after. Use headphones 🎧
1. Full mix
2. Kick, snare and overheads
3. Knee and room mics
Running kick and snare mics through @heritage_audio_ HA73 pres, overheads (@xaudiamics ribbons) through DAV BG1U into a Drawmer spectral compressor, and the knee and room mics (also @xaudiamics ribbons) are both going through Focusrite ISA pres. Knee mic then gets smashed through a @spectra1964 610 complimiter and the room mic (more of a distant overhead in my tiny room) gets crushed by an RNLA (FMR). by @rian_ogrady

Munchausen Glitch Quintet sounds like a hard drive learning how to grieve: a suite of electronic confessionals where synth bass moves under the floorboards, electric drums and beats keep the blood circulating, and every piano note feels like it has been recovered from a deleted message.

Across the set, the music sits in that beautiful pressure zone between human damage and machine precision, all glowing circuits, soft regret, clean pulses, and vast empty skies, built for library use but alive with the kind of private ache that refuses to behave like background music.

It is intimate enough for Human Drama, elegant enough for Documentary, cool enough for Technology and Science Fiction, and sad enough to make even the Sound Effects feel like they remember something.

Think chamber writing with cinematic instinct, art-house heart, and just enough narrative oddness to keep the whole thing gloriously human

No it’s not the H&M Autumn/Winter Collection, it’s my new single featuring the breakbeat drumming wizardry of @rian_ogrady. I built this song around some amazing live loops he’d sent me and then he let fly once the structure was there. Links in my bioooo

Latest single from @oscarbrowne__ getting some decent air time - BBC6 music “track of the week” and plays on Radio X.
I played drums on this at @zigzagrecording, also nice to hear some of the other parts I recorded (background guitars and organ) for the original demo made the final cut. Oscar’s dad has a Hammond organ in his living room - when you power it up while holding a chord the pitch gets all weird and woozy (you can hear it in the second slide)
