Ahead of tonight’s performance of @pamtanowitzdanceofficial: Pastoral at the @barbicancentre, we caught up with artist @sarahcrowner backstage for a first-hand insight into the making of this awe-inspiring production.

Featuring choreography by @pamtanowitzdanceofficial, music by @carolineadelaideshaw and paintings by @sarahcrowner, Pastoral reimagines Beethoven’s beloved Symphony No. 6 through movement, sound and color.

The production premiered at the @fishercenterbard in New York in June 2025, before traveling to Luxembourg and now arriving at the @barbicancentre for its UK premiere.

Swipe to hear from @sarahcrowner herself about how it all came together, from the initial meeting to the creation of the production’s striking visual world.

Congratulations Performance Space on an insanely brilliant 2026 Spring Gala! 🌹

Under the creative direction of renowned playwright, novelist, and director Jordan Tannahill, the event’s concept was “Feel Everything” - a direct challenge to the current moment of political fatigue and cultural paralysis by celebrating kink, fetish and performance as a site of risk and transformation; of bodies meeting limits, of limits giving rise to freedom.

The gala honored Michèle Lamy, Paul McCarthy, and Samuel R. Delany, recognizing their profound contributions to contemporary art, literature and culture and reaffirming Performance Space’s commitment to championing artists who challenge power, expand artistic form, and build community through bold, risk-taking performance.

With Julia Fox and Richie Shazam as MC’s, the evening included stand-out contributions by Yseult, who performed the US debut of her new single Freak and an unforgettable finale by Moses Sumney.

A quick history lesson! - Performance Space (formerly P.S. 122) was founded by artists in 1980 during the height of the American culture wars, and is widely recognized as a birthplace of contemporary performance art. From its earliest days, the organization has served as a haven for queer voices and a platform for political resistance, hosting the first AIDS fundraiser in the arts, helping birth the red AIDS ribbon, and supporting artists and organizers connected to ACT UP. Over the decades, it has remained a vital site for urgent, world-making work – from performances staged in front of the White House to radical experiments that helped shape New York’s downtown cultural scene

So much gratitude to Performance Space directors Pati Hertling, Taja Cheek and Ana Be Sepúlveda, communications guru Christofer Medina, VIP hustler Atalay Yavuz and gala co-chairs Slobodan Randjelović and Thomas Rom for inviting us into your hectic, fun-fuelled and culturally-transformative world ❤️

In the middle of a hectic week in New York that saw a golden toilet sold and auction records smashed, I was exctied to accept an invitation to speak at @nyuifa with a class of MA students, discussing communications and its role in the arts. It was an enormous privilege to be able to share some of what I’ve learned since founding @scott_andco with this group of future arts professionals and to hear their areas of interest and specialism.

Sitting with these smart students during a week in which commentators heralded the art market’s return to form following success at Frieze’s fairs in Seoul and London felt like a fittingly full circle moment: these are the movers and shakers who will be running the art fairs, galleries and standing on the auction house rostrum of the next decades.

Thank you Joan Kee, Catherine Quan Damman and the IFA students for a deeply enjoyable conversation, and to the OG IFA grad @valerianapoleone ! taken in The Institute of Fine Arts, NYU by @riccarduu

We’re thrilled to be working with CANYON @canyon.ny, a major new arts venue opening in 2026 on the Lower East Side of New York. Founded by @RobertRosenkranz and led by Joe Thompson, CANYON reimagines how we experience moving image, sound, and performance across 40,000 square feet of former retail space adapted for culture by architects @new_affiliates.

Zachary Small (@zacharyhsmall) announced the project today in @nytimes in an interview with founder Robert Rosenkranz, director Joe Thompson, and artist Ian Cheng (@eyecheng): “Canyon reflects my belief that cultural institutions must evolve to meet the intellectual and sensory lives of contemporary audiences.” —RR

Conceived as a hybrid between museum, performing arts center, and social space, CANYON will feature state-of-the-art galleries, evening-focused opening hours, and a significant food & beverage operation designed to invite audiences to linger, return, and engage on their own terms.

At a time when screens dominate how we work, play, and dream, CANYON offers a dedicated space to explore the most imaginative and challenging possibilities of video, performance, and sound unfolding at the pace of attention.

Opening programming includes a major retrospective of Ryoji Ikeda, as well as programs from long-term partners @electronicartsintermix, @rhizomeorg, and @arcnyc.

Cass Fino-Radin will be Director of Arts & Technology and @samanthaozer will be Curator-at-Large.

Follow along for more updates as we get closer to launch. Link in bio.
