After three hilarious days of shooting, @itsdlai pulled me aside and spoke so much life into my path ahead. What was probably a quick convo for him, are words I’ll keep with me for the rest of my career.

My intention going into this project was to leave as much room for our incredible talent to play and trust their comedic instincts. Every scene @roxxyhaze @bcormell @momcallsmedom @kevonstage and I wrote was crafted with a specific actor in mind.

My quiet hope was that each actor would feel this tailored energy, and feel safe enough in their characters to take bigger swings they usually wouldn’t on other sets.

So when D’lai repeated my intentions to me almost verbatim based on his experience working together and expressed how he appreciated my directing style - it was the confirmation I needed, to know I was creatively walking in the right direction.

Thank you brother 🙏🏾 by @rich.a.washington

Churchy Season 2 was a beautiful blend of film grad school and fraternity hazing. Character was built. Writing and producing skills were dialed-in. And a hilarious comedy television show was made. I can’t wait for the world to laugh with us. by @rich.a.washington

The Sundae Scoop Podcast with @chocolatesundaes was a special moment in time for me. Even though we only filmed one season, in those 20-something episodes I look back on the seeds that were planted and the relationships that have grown - and am extremely grateful.

So many of the comics I connected with then… we still work together today! by @rich.a.washington

The thing that brings me the most joy is swinging by @chocolatesundaes and having a good laugh with good friends who are also chasing their dreams. taken in The Laugh Factory by @rich.a.washington

When I graduated from USC Marshall School of Business many moons ago, my family and friends were so proud. I had “done” it. I graduated with a well-paid finance job lined up and started working full-time the weekend after graduation.

That’s when the clock started counting me down - without my knowledge - into one of the most depressing seasons of my life. A long season of isolation and lack of clarity around my purpose. Clocking in and clocking out to the bank every drained my entire soul. But I did it because… well what else what supposed to do.

Did I spend hours in my cubicle writing comedy sketches every day? Yes. But that version of myself didn’t believe that random “hobbies” could create a space for me in this lifetime.

This version of myself is a full believer. Thank you God for the ability to sharpen my creative gifts daily. by @rich.a.washington

I don’t know what I would’ve done without this guy while directing my first TV series. He went HAM behind the scenes so we could have all the laughs on set.

Not only did he write & produce the show, but he worked round the clock (literally) for months to make sure everything ran smoothly. All with a smile on his face. If that ain’t dedication idk what is!!

My dawg is finally on the gram! Show some love to the writer, producer, showrunner & everything in between on Churchy… @rich.a.washington !👈🏾👈🏾 by @rich.a.washington
