POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Thrilled to announce I just sold a scuzzy little screenplay I wrote about five or six years ago! This was a personal project to me at the time, so it’ll be exciting to finally see it come to life in some form of visual representation. As of now, details on the production are under wraps, but so far the paperwork is finalized, we have a solid director on board, and the attachment of an awesome lead actor is in the works. I can’t stand vague posts like this, but it’s Friday and I felt like celebrating with online buddies (just about the only friends I have nowadays, to be honest). I’ll be sure to share more news about this movie when things start rockin’ and rollin’. In the meantime, I gotta plant my tired ass in the chair and get busy writing another one!

Check out my latest piece for The Physical Media Advocate - a conversation with filmmaker @kansasbowling about her movie "Cuddly Toys" and all things cinema! New issue is available now on Amazon and various online retailers. Shout out to Ryan Verrill (of @thediscconnected) for publishing the interview!

I really need to revisit this movie on 4k. I remember it being a damn good take on the whole Ed Gein mythos. Bob Clark's buddies (Alan Ormsby & Jeff Gillen) cooked this sick little story up, and it's a super slept-on '70s gem with a solid performance from Roberts Blossom (the South Bend Shovel Slayer from "Home Alone").

“The Stepfather” (1987) is one of those perfect autumnal horror thrillers. The legacy of the first film loses a bit of luster due to the cheap sequels and the inferior remake it spawned, but all the films in this series have their fun, campy moments. The original may have been dismissed as typical slasher fare at the time of its release, but I personally hold it up there with “Halloween,” “Psycho,” and “The Silence of the Lambs” as a model template for classic killer thrillers.

I'll never forget October 14th in '94, when this film was unleashed in theaters, the only "New Nightmare" I experienced was getting grounded since my report card (filled with D's and F's) also came out that exact same week.

My grades improved over time -- and I eventually did catch the movie on VHS -- but man, missing out on this film in theaters was a bummer back then. In those days you had to wait six months to a year for a home video release while listening to your buddies on the playground hoot and holler about how awesome the movie was.

And yeah I used "Dream Warriors" for the backdrop here. What of it?

I remember this movie oozing with cheese when I saw it years ago, but I also remember Michael Ironside kicking ass, and Corey Haim was reliable as always. Glad to see @toyrobotvideo rescued this one from the depths of VHS hell so I can give it a proper rewatch.

This movie wasn't really for me, but I at least enjoyed some of the swag A24 offered along with the new release. I thought the ASYNC ID card was pretty sweet.
