In the immediate aftermath of 9/11,
I was commissioned to do a small acrylic mural for Price Waterhouse Coopers. They wanted to memorialize the event.
Inspired by a stock illustration of American revolutionary soldiers marching with a fife and drums , the idea of American heroes leading us to the future through music seemed like it might convey the optimism and hope everyone seemed to be lounging for.
For models, I used real firefighters, police, friends, and my young cousin with a few of her friends.

It's hard to believe it's 25 years later now,
But we're getting through it still
One day at a time..
But still,
Never forget

$2 works from 9/11. The watercolor was done on the first Saturday after that terrible Tuesday, 9/11... I sat for hours at the memorial set up in Union Square, the largest one in Manhattan... This is just a fraction of the size of that memorial It's hard to believe this was all 25 years ago... So many folks are trying to find words for today, but sometimes there just aren't any. A Buddhist proverb teaches, "Don't say anything unless it improves on silence" So, With that in mind, simply, Never forget 🙏🏼🕉️🕉️ #aslnyc #artstudentsleagueofnewyork #highschoolofartanddesign #artanddesignhighschool by @richard_weinstein$
