Devil’s Tower is pretty crazy. It’s impossible to look away while you’re hiking around it and every angle looks so different. Definitely a mystical place with a lot of energy. taken in Devils Tower, Wyoming by @richardfernandok

Unfortunately we didn’t see any Bighorn Sheep or the famous Custer Burros taken in Custer State Park by @richardfernandok

Custer State Park was spectacular! We hiked to the top of Black Elk Peak, the highest point between the Rocky Mountains and Pyrenees Mountains and also did the Little Devil’s Tower and Cathedral Spires hikes too.

Controversially, we decided to skip Mount Rushmore in order to get an extra hike in and I think experiencing America’s majestic natural beauty is a better way to celebrate the country than looking at a jingoistic monument of some dead guys. Technically, we could see the back of Rushmore from Black Elk Peak so I don’t think I missed anything lol taken in Custer State Park by @richardfernandok

Badlands National Park was really incredible. It’s wild to encounter such an otherworldly landscape right in the middle of a sea of grassland, and only a 7 hour drive from Minneapolis. taken in Badlands National Park, SD by @richardfernandok
