Jasmine Guy is speaking out after facing criticism about her appearance following her return as the beloved Whitley Gilbert in Netflix’s "A Different World" sequel.

The 64-year-old actress reprised the role nearly four decades after audiences were first introduced to Whitley in the original series, which premiered in 1987.

The new sequel, released September 24, follows a new generation at Hillman College, including Whitley and Dwayne Wayne’s youngest daughter, Deborah.

While many fans celebrated seeing Guy and other original cast members back on screen, some online comments focused on how her appearance has changed over the years. Guy responded with a message about the pressure women often face as they grow older.

“The internet can be brutal to women as we grow older,” Guy wrote, pointing out the contradiction between celebrating a long life while criticizing the physical signs that come with it.

Guy acknowledged that growing older comes with changes that aren’t always easy, but offered an important reminder: “beauty, style, and joy don’t have an expiration date.”

She encouraged people to spend less time judging themselves and others and more time loving, creating memories and enjoying life. by @richblack5

TRACY MCGRADY SIGNED A $92.9 MILLION DEAL. HIS WIFE TOLD HIM TO CHECK THE PEOPLE HANDLING IT. McGrady signed a seven-year contract with the Orlando Magic in 2000 worth about $92.9 million. Early in that run, his wife CleRenda Harris told him to bring in an auditor to review the financial advisors he was already paying.

"My wife, she's on top of my business," McGrady told AFROTECH.

His reasoning for why it mattered: "You have these financial advisors. You don't know what they're doing, because there's so much money. You don't know what they're investing in. You don't know what money is being moved around."

And what it meant to him: "I never would have thought about anything like that. I was really just concentrating on my craft just trying to be the best basketball player I possibly can be. And I had somebody on my side that was taking care of really important things so I could just concentrate on basketball. My wife was just, she was, you know, she's incredible."

Advisors manage the money. Somebody still has to check the advisors.

Sandra Bullock is opening up about the fear she carries as a white mother raising two Black children. The actress says she is “uber paranoid” whenever her son Louis and daughter Laila leave home because, although they are her babies and the center of her life, strangers don’t know that when they see them—they simply see two Black teenagers. Bullock says she began teaching Louis about racism when he was only six, even explaining why wearing a hoodie could cause certain people to perceive him differently. She allows both children to see the realities of racism because she wants them prepared for a world she knows her fame and whiteness cannot shield them from. Bullock admits she sometimes wished their skin matched—not because she wanted them to be white, but because she wanted the world to recognize immediately that they belonged together. For her, loving Black children also means acknowledging their Blackness, understanding that their experiences will differ from hers and preparing them for dangers she has never personally had to face. by @richblack5

Alfonso Ribeiro believes his interracial marriage may be one reason he doesn’t feel fully embraced by the Black community, but the reaction to his comments reveals a complicated divide between feeling rejected and understanding why people may be critical.

Ribeiro has said the negativity surrounding his white wife and family has been painful, and he feels his marriage has affected the level of support he receives from Black audiences.

But many Black people online see it very differently. They argue they’ve supported Ribeiro since his days on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and that who he chose to marry was never the issue.

The debate raises a bigger question: Is Ribeiro genuinely receiving less support because of his interracial marriage, or is he interpreting criticism as rejection from an entire community? by @richblack5

HE WAS 21 WHEN HE SIGNED THE DEAL THAT WOULD STILL BE PAYING HIM AT 55.

In 2001, Allen Iverson signed a lifetime endorsement contract with Reebok. It guarantees him $800,000 a year for life, and it set aside a $32 million trust fund he cannot touch until his 55th birthday.

Reebok built that clause in on purpose. The money sits, it grows, and it waits.

Iverson turned 50 in June 2025. The trust unlocks in 2030.

That is what real long-term money looks like. Not a check you spend. A structure that outlives the career.

Would you take the yearly payout or lock it up until 55?

She apparently has a new favorite place to nap 😂

A woman glanced outside and discovered a wild fox completely stretched out on her outdoor sofa, looking very comfortable with the arrangement. Instead of disturbing her unexpected guest, she let the sleepy visitor enjoy the cozy spot for as long as she wanted.

For one afternoon, this fox got to experience the luxury of a very good couch 🦊 by @richblack5

The Game with his sons Harlem and King Justice 🖤

📸 He took this photo with his sons when they were kids. Now they are grown. Harlem is 23. King Justice is 19.

And their father just released The Documentary III, a 24-track album featuring Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Drake, Kanye West, YG & More 🔥
21 years after The Documentary changed Hip Hop forever 💯

The same man who put Compton back on the map in 2005 came back with a full project and same legacy in a different era.

The kids grew up and the music never stopped.
