Texas Takeover was a blur in the best way. Shows, long drives, truck stop snacks, questionable decisions, and many memories with some of our favorite people. Huge thanks to everyone who came out, sang along, hung with us, helped us, or made this run feel special. More soon! taken in Texas, USA by @richieheyward

Come Out, You Men in Masks. Based upon the Irish rebel song “Come Out, Ye Black and Tans”. Penned by Dominic Behan in the 1960’s about the oppression and brutality of the British paramilitary force known colloquially by the Irish as the “black and tans” because of their uniform. Here, today in the United States we face up against a brutalistic force wearing black and tan that terrorizes our cities, our communities, our neighbors. My parents raised me to speak out at the least when evil rears its head and my father would be rolling in his grave if I did nothing. Hell, my colonial and Celtic ancestors would too. And I’ll be damned if I stay silent against any aspect of this fascist regime, its abuse of the American people, and the human beings it vilifies. The DHS and I.C.E. are out of control and must be stopped. “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” - Mark 12:31. Godspeed out there. Be safe. Sic semper tyrannis.

I can’t believe this little goblin, fairy princess, moonbeam of joy turned 1 today. You are the greatest joy of my life, and I couldn’t be more thankful for you and my weird little family. Sheik’s Theme from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. This is the song I sing to Lore when she’s having trouble sleeping. Don’t know why it’s always been this one, but it has been. #TheLegendOfLorelei

Everyone keeps saying “You gotta be hopeful and optimistic about the next four years”. So here’s “Optimistic” by Radiohead. It’s as close as you’re gonna get.
“Flies are buzzing’ round my head. Vultures circling the dead, picking up every last crumb. The big fish eat the little ones. The big fish eat the little ones. Not my problem. Give me some. You can try the best you can. You can try the best you can. The best you can is good enough…Dinosaurs roaming the earth.” by @richieheyward

Yet another April 3rd. Today is 7 years since dad died. And every year on April 3rd I come to this same spot on the Arkaquah Trail. Every year this hike kicks my ass, and every year it’s worth it. To sit on top of a mountain alone, to think, to remember, to rest. This year is especially poignant. Now that I’m a dad myself I miss my own dad even more, but that also makes the memories of him that much more powerful. “The flow of time is always cruel. Its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it. A thing that does not change with time is a memory of younger days.” Love you, dad. And I’ll make sure your granddaughter knows that she is loved beyond measure. taken in Buzzard Roost Mountain by @richieheyward
