This week we’re highlighting Coach Darrell (@richkidsonly) — a multifaceted trainer out of the West Side of Chicago, developing collegiate and pro-level talent.

Official Coach and Scout for Hunter Games.

His mission is bigger than basketball.
Creating real opportunities for underserved youth to learn, compete, and evolve—on and off the court.

Through experience, structure, and community, he’s building a safe space where growth is the standard and discipline is the foundation.

We are heartbroken to share the loss of Damarion Johnson, a beloved member of the Project sWish family.

Damarion was more than just a hooper — he was family and a light in our community. His passion for the game, his funny and vibrant personality, and the way he lifted everyone around him left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. DJ was frequent with PSC as he participated weekly in programming, spring break trips, lock-ins, and everything else we held.

But our relationship with him extended beyond programming. We spoke with him multiple times a day, saw him multiple times a week, and supported him as real family. The gym, the planes, the busses, etc. will never feel the same without his energy, his smile, his jokes, and the heart he brought to the program.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the PSC family, Damarion’s family, and friends during this incredibly difficult time. We will continue to honor his memory by playing with the same joy, determination, and love for the game that he showed every day. taken in Chicago, Illinois by @richkidsonly
