✨ FEATURED POET: RICK WRITES ✨

Rick Writes stepped onto the Open Mic Renegades stage and reminded us exactly why freestyle is an art form.

We threw him a list of completely random words and said, “Alright… let’s see what you got.” 😂

And somehow, he made it WORK.

Decade
Lionel Messi
Black Magic
Tom Brady
Red Sea
Mariana Trench
Protractor
Catacombs
Domino
Muy Caliente
Cash
Flash
Last Name

And just like that… Rick turned a handful of random words into a freestyle that had the whole room locked in. 🎤

From Tampa to Winter Haven, thank you Rick Writes for bringing your talent, personality, and creativity to the Renegades stage. We love seeing artists take risks, play with their craft, and remind us that there’s no wrong way to create.

This is what Open Mic Renegades is about.

The unexpected.
The spontaneous.
The artists.
The community.
The moments we don’t plan for but remember.

Thank you for being part of the family, Rick. 🙏

Open Mic Renegades
Where community meets home.
Where every voice has a place.

What’s up my friends! I’m excited to share that I’m going to be competing at the blurred lines cosplay poetry slam this Labor Day weekend. The slam will be on Saturday tentative for 6 PM in room 110 at the Tampa Bay Convention Center. Not only do we have poets from right here in Tampa Bay, but from all over Florida, and as far as Texas and Detroit. I’m excited to see what all my fellow poets are gonna do and I’m genuinely looking forward to this slam. Use code QUIN for your ticket purchase. You need at minimum a Saturday single ticket but, I hope you come and interact with some of your favorite artists. Shout out to @queeny_bihh for hosting. See you on Saturday @tampabaycomicconvention #poetry #poetryslam #comiccon taken in Tampa Convention Center by @rick__writes

I’m looking forward to see how creative poets can be with their craft. Thank you to @brooks.mp4_ for the graphic, I will be cheering for you and all poets from the Tampa Bay area. #poetry #slampoetry #poet taken in Tampa Florida by @rick__writes

“Wake up, Sleepyhead.” Round 2 of the Dr David Axelrod Grenada Grand festival of the arts slam. The original writing prompt given to me - write a poem from the perspective of an inanimate object, an alarm clock. Sometimes we gotta get creative with our pain. #poetry #mentalhealth #veterans taken in Ormond Beach, Florida by @rick__writes

For this writing challenge, the words given to me were: identity, unfillable, behavior, greed, synchronicity. Sometimes it’s good to just try and have fun with your poetry. #poetry #writingprompts captured by @blazedmedia_ for @growhousetampa 1st Mondays open mic by @rick__writes
