"A change in season"

Part of a small collection I'm working on for my first Winter Fair. Based on a feeling of home and the calm and comfort of familiarity.
Recently I've been referencing old books of samplers from the 18th century, depicting life in naive form and story telling through stitches. The thoughtful selection of motifs that represent everyday treasures and memories 🪡 by @rickard_dearie

"Shall we sit for a while"

It's the last couple of days of @selvedgemagazine London Textile Month #ltm2026

This piece incorporates 5 of the stitch techniques we went through during my workshop
🪡seed
🪡 stagger
🪡 couching
🪡whipping
🪡 french knots

It has been such an amazing month, and now to reflect on what it has meant to me to sit with textile enthusiasts, practitioners, teachers and custodians.
To be able to share what embroidery means to me and how using simple stitches can enable you to create something personal and individual as well as establishing a practise you can take through life.

A final thank you to everyone involved 🤍🪡

On Thursday I had the great pleasure of hosting my workshop as part of @selvedgemagazine
London textile month, held @museumofthehome

I was joined by an amazing group of participants, with the support of @ashna__patel

We spent the day exploring how simple stitch techniques on existing pattern can lead to a calm and restorative practice.
There were many accomplished sewers in the group, and the lovely feedback was that by applying your sewing skills in a new way, you can still learn something new. A huge thank you to everyone who attended, it was good to learn from you all too 🤍

I am looking forward to my next opportunity to be amongst such a lovely group of textile folk 🤍🪡

"Feels Like Home"

An embroidered sampler, inspired by motifs from well loved possessions and books that sat in our mother's workroom for decades . The owl (my favorite) was an antique wooden carved bobbin charm. I can hear the noise of them on the lace pillow as she created something unique. A sound from our childhood and a memory to hold onto 🤍 by @rickard_dearie

"oh think how happy we could be" 🌞🌙
White on white, with shadow appliqué. Using an old napkin, felt for the shadow appliquéd motifs and a beautiful organdie from @clothhouse_studiolondon

It starts with creating card template motifs that I draw around onto the fabric, and then I free hand embroider the detail, using my initial sketch as inspiration, but never minding if it becomes something slightly different. 🪡

I'll be teaching these simple stitch processes as part of my workshop with @selvedgemagazine for #LTM26

Head to their link in their bio to see all the amazing events they are running as part of this celebration of textiles. Honoured to be part of it, and looking forward to meeting everyone 🪡🤍 by @rickard_dearie

The art of stitching a block print

There is something really lovely about stitching on block printed fabric. The softness of the dyes and pattern really compliments the addition of stitch. To see how the pattern changes with the choice of colour, thread thickness and the stitch you use. It all adds to what was already a beautiful piece of hand crafted cloth. My favorite collection of beautiful block printed fabrics is @clothhouse_studiolondon

During my workshop, as part of @selvedgemagazine London textile month, I will take you through the techniques and choices that will enable you to make a truly personal piece.

@selvedgemagazine London textile month is an amazing opportunity to join creative practitioners, ambassadors, custodians and experts in their field. I'm so honoured to be part of this and can't wait to meet you there.

4 simple stitches and 4 thread colours make up this piece. The strong contrasting outline changes the energy of the print itself and leaving sections of the pattern free from stitch keeps the authenticity of the original design. I've used a simple running stitch to connect the motif back to the base cloth, adding a soft quilted texture.
Not long to go now before @selvedgemagazine London Textile Month begins. I am so delighted to be hosting @museumofthehome for my workshop. This week we went to see the space, which is light filled and perfect for a days stitching. With all the inspiration of the museum itself and the calm space of the cafe.

There are so many wonderful events happening. Head to @selvedgemagazine and the link in their bio for all the information. by @rickard_dearie
