Caroline Canny is 17 years old today. What an incredible journey for this young, beautiful soul. It’s funny; while I was choosing pictures for this reel, I got an email from one of the admins of her choir at school and she was saying how much she’s loved working with Caroline, how she’s “impressed with C’s professionalism and creativity.” And that “she is a born leader.” That’s the stuff we all dream we’ll hear about our kids.
I don’t worry about where she’s going in life. She’s got this. When I was 17, the cracks were starting to show. lol. So I don’t really have a lot to offer here. And thankfully she shows me every day that she’s got this. She leads with kindness, and compassion, integrity and genuine care for her fellows. And I’m the luckiest dad in town. by @rickcanny

Today I’m 61.
Ya know, through the gajillion billion time/ space events that had to occur for us to be here, we have all chosen each other. It’s so hard for our human brains to understand it, but we did. And some of us will ride the bus together for a long, long time. Others, maybe just a stop or two. But we’ve got $h!t to do together and learn from each other. And if it’s at work, at the airport, the grocery store, a show, the bike path, my daughter’s school, wherever… I chose you. And thank you for choosing me too.
Perhaps the most important thing I learned along with this is that my primary responsibility, at the foundation of every experience, with every person, every animal, every thing- is for me to be kind.
Also, I had my picture taken. Not something I did since my junior year of high school. Thought I’d see what it felt like. lol. Box checked. by @rickcanny

If drinking and getting high ain’t working like it used to, or like you want it to, or like you need it to, maybe it’s time we try something different. I’m posting this only to let anyone who’s thinking about it know there is a solution. And it gets better. Then it gets good. Then it gets fucking magical. I’m living breathing proof that it gets fucking magical. When I walked into my last first meeting 39 years ago today, there was no way I could have ever imagined the incredible, amazing journey that awaited me. Sure there were a couple times over the years when I was like, I can’t do this. But friends carried me. And man, it’s good. It’s beautiful. It full, it’s rich, it’s abundant, its conscious, it magical, it’s limitless. It’s all love. That’s what I’m here for! Thank you! by @rickcanny
