Ay yo crew: Unfortunately, it’s so easy to look at the circumstances and then decide what God is able to do.

We see the numbers.
We see the delay.
We see what still hasn’t changed.
And before we know it, we’ve taken what’s happening right now and turned it into a conclusion about what’s possible.

That’s the part we have to catch.

When your circumstances start getting louder than your faith, stop and ask:

What is true about God that is still true here?

Then pray from that truth.
Make your next decision from that truth.
And refuse to let temporary evidence become a permanent expectation.

Your circumstances may inform you. They may require wisdom, adjustment, patience, even a different strategy.

But they do not get to tell you what God is capable of.

Your circumstances are information. They are not the measure of God’s ability.

Thoughts that keep me up at night 😩🤣

It’s sad enough that some of our FAVORITE artists are gone, thus, we’ll never see another live performance (Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, etc).

However the thought that those alive will probably 🗣️never set foot on stage together, has me feeling a way.

Ay yo crew: Make it make scents.

You don’t need 30 fall fragrances. You need the right five.

Building a fragrance collection can get overwhelming QUICK. You start looking for one good fall perfume and suddenly everybody is telling you about notes, flankers, niche houses, projection, sillage, 14 different vanillas and a fragrance you apparently need before it gets discontinued.

Ma’am 🗣️🙄

So instead of asking, “What fragrances should I buy?” I think it’s easier to ask:

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽“What do I actually need my fragrances to DO in my real life?”

That’s how I’d build a fall fragrance collection from scratch.

☑️Something easy enough to reach for regularly.
☑️Something polished for work.
☑️Something for brunch and weekends with the crew.
☑️Something that makes sense when the reservation is at 8:30 and the lighting is disrespectfully good.
☑️And something cozy for when outside has absolutely nothing to offer me.

Five different jobs. Five different scent experiences. A collection with some range instead of five bottles doing the same thing.

According to the Internet, women suck at apologizing.

While I don’t know that to be true personally, I can understand why.

An apology is not just a one phrase or even not time event.

It requires:
HUMILITY
UNDERSTANDING
CAPACITY
And a desire and WILLINGNESS to repair.

Ay yo crew, as a native NYer who commutes to the office, it is a literal NIGHTMARE to commute WITHOUT headphones.

So much so that I have spare headphones at my desk 🤣😩.

Listen, I get it: NYC is very much ghetto and you MUST be vigilant and be mindful of when that MTA wants to switch up and play in your face.

However, I just need answers from those who don’t wear headphones: why?

Ay yo crew, apparently there is a thing called post divorce clarity, and on the other side of healing have I gained so much clarity.

Marriage should change us.
Loving another person requires sacrifice, compromise, maturity and dying to selfishness.

But dying to selfishness and erasing yourself are NOT THE 👏🏽SAME 👏🏽THING.

God’s design was two becoming one, 🗣️not two becoming one person.

You should still have interests that light you up. Gifts that need expression. Dreams worth tending. Friendships. Curiosity. A voice. A whole personality outside of being somebody’s wife.

And maybe that’s one of the quieter parts of rebuilding after divorce:

Looking around your own life and asking, Girl… when did we stop doing THAT?

Not with shame.
Not with resentment.
Not to blame your ex for every dusty box in the attic.

Just with curiosity.

What did I put down?
Why did I put it down?
And do I want to pick it back up?

Because maybe the lesson isn’t that you should never sacrifice for love again.

Maybe it’s learning how to love deeply without abandoning yourself in the process.

Addition without subtraction.

That’s something I want to carry differently next time.

Ay yo crew: What up!

Something happens.

A text goes unanswered.
The tone feels off.
You are not included.
Someone’s energy shifts.

And before you know it, your mind has produced, directed and released a six-part limited series.

“They are upset with me.”

“They do not value me.”

“This always happens.”

“I knew I could not trust them.”

Now you are responding to the story, not the situation.

You become cold. Defensive. Anxious. You withdraw, confront too aggressively or make a decision based on information you do not actually have.

That is why this question matters:

What story am I telling myself about this?

Not because your instincts are irrelevant.

Not because you should gaslight yourself or ignore clear patterns.

But because instinct, fear, history, insecurity and outside opinions can all start talking at the same time. Loudly. With confidence. And none of them brought evidence.

The pause gives you room to ask:

What actually happened?

What am I assuming?

What did this trigger in me?

Is this about the present, or is my past helping write the script?

You do not need to dismiss your feelings.

You just need to stop promoting them to facts before you investigate.
