I have signed out of most of my social media for awhile now, but wanted to share this. Today was the day that all dog owners dread-but all know is coming. This morning we said goodbye to our Golden Boy Marley. Marley came into our lives in 2012, after the sudden passing of our previous dog Dylan. With that golden combination of cheerful friendliness, goofy charm, loyalty, and good looks, Marley healed our broken hearts and became an essential part of the family. He loved people, laying in the yard, daily walks, and visiting Grandma. He was a “den dog” who loved to curl up in small corners and spaces throughout the house. Unfortunately, cancer is epidemic in goldens and we weren’t able to avoid it. With little warning, he quickly became sick and we knew we had to give him our last gift of love before he began to suffer. So now we will have a much cleaner house, but one that feels much emptier. After 20 years, we will be “dog less” which will be a challenge. Rest well, buddy. Thank you for the memories and love. Hope you are romping happily now with all the ones who have gone before you. by @rickgerwin
