RECONNECTING TO LIF-FI🪽

“Forget the self and you will fear nothing”; have you lost connection? We all do. Carlos Castaneda always talked about “awareness”, a heightened consciousness in which you shed your personal importance and hence shift your perception completely. “A warrior considers himself already dead, so there is nothing to lose. The worst has already happened to him, therefore he’s clear and calm.” Perhaps if we shift our perception, we can reconnect to the endless energy all around us, and inside us.

I don’t care how long it takes me to make this record. Everything you hear from everyone now is to go faster, pump out everything you can, as fast as you can, so you can get ahead of the algorithm and other creators. Fuck all that! I refuse to put the noose of time around my neck. I’m going to savor every minute, breathe slowly, and hit record when it’s time. This album is for me, first. I feel I am creating my masterpiece, and I rebuke the pressures of an industry that makes music into fast food, and takes away from what it actually is - an initiation, an odyssey, a meditation, and a connection to spirit.

Do you also feel like everything is rushed? Does it feel like the speed of consumption has taken over everything, including your creation process? Do you remember the last time you remembered to do something for yourself, first?

I think it’s time to stop, and to reassess the world. It’s time to reconnect to LIF-FI: the energy that’s all around us, and inside us.

Breaking in my new harmonizer - it’s really inspiring for vocal ideas. I fell in love with Ralph Stanley’s “Village Church Yard” some time ago, and have been wanting to capture something like it for my album, LIF-FI. It feels like I’m tapping into something powerful on this record. 🪽

I have a vision for an album about reconnection called LIF-FI. Many ideas floating around, sounds, atmospheres, human performance, nomadic analog recording, collaboration, and ultimately, celebration. I look forward to this chapter and journey. Would you like to contribute something? I would love to have all my friends appear on this album, even if just for a little moment. I feel so inspired by this album already. It will be released as a full LP, some time in late 2026. This is just the beginning!
