January Dump 2025 came in heavy. Easily the hardest start to a year I’ve ever had. Some things you can prepare for—this wasn’t one of them. Seeing everything you’ve ever known disappear in an instant changes you. It forces you to look at life differently, to find strength in places you didn’t even know existed.

But here’s the thing—life keeps going. Even when it feels impossible, even when you don’t have the answers, even when you’re standing in the wreckage of what used to be. So that’s what I’m doing. Taking it day by day, figuring it out as I go. taken in Altadena, CA by @rickmoralesjr

This place was always on my bucket list, but after getting sick, it really felt like it could be my last stop. Thankfully, I made it through and I’m definitely coming back in the future. In this episode of *Turning Your Back on Reality*, I decided to visit Vietnam to dive into the local culture. I learned how to make authentic Vietnamese coffee, stood just inches from passing trains, tried food I’ve never had before, and spent time with a Vietnamese Cholo who’s embraced the culture as a way of life. The sheer number of motorbikes constantly beeping was something I’ve never experienced, but what stood out most was the way people gather every evening, eating together right on the street and enjoying life. Thailand will forever hold a special place in my heart. From reuniting with an old friend to meeting new ones, this journey was more than just an adventure—it was a reminder of the beauty found in connection.
