Bill Burr / New York, NY / 2026 Check another one off the dream subject list! Bill Burr for Cigar Aficionado. This was a really fun shoot. Bill is one of my favorite comedians, so when I got the email asking if I’d be interested in shooting with him the answer was an immediate yes! The only complication was traveling from work in VT the night before the shoot and flying to Paris the night of the shoot. This is just one of the portraits from this session that the magazine has released so far. More to come!! #billburr @wilfredburr by @rickwenner

I recently photographed Jon Bernthal for The Washington Post during the Spider-Man: Brand New Day press junket at the Mandarin Oriental in NYC. Press junkets are always a race against the clock. Limited time, limited space, and not exactly the kind of environment you’d choose for a portrait shoot. The challenge is finding the light, the composition, and the moment before the clock runs out. Jon couldn’t have been a better subject. He was incredibly gracious, completely open to direction (even when I asked him to get in the shower), and ready to jump right in. And the best part? His best friend Bam Bam was along for the ride. I was very happy to get him into the shoot and make a few frames of the two of them together. A few minutes. One hotel room. While #DanielRadcliffe will always be Harry to so many of us, what I admire even more is the way he's shaped his career. Anyone who has worked in this industry knows how easy it is to be typecast—especially as a child actor. Daniel has consistently chosen bold, unconventional, and sometimes controversial roles on stage and on screen, refusing to be defined by one character. Harry Potter will always have a special place in my heart, but I celebrate Daniel for his courage, authenticity, and willingness to take creative risks—and I think that's the real magic of life. You can shape it and alchemize it into whatever you want it to be. Speaking of alchemy, this photo shoot was very much that. I honestly didn't think it was going to happen, but we ended up created something beautiful in the end. What began as a conversation in March finally came together in May! Nearly 3 months! Coordinating four incredibly busy talent within a very tight deadline, and a very moderate budget, but somehow, at the very last minute, everything aligned. I was fortunate to be connected with @rickwenner through a recommendation from @ianspanier. After one phone call, I knew Rick was the perfect photographer for the job. He stays calm under pressure, adapts quickly, and communicates with honesty and clarity—qualities that make all the difference on a production like this. We also found the perfect location and were generously hosted by @donotdisturb.ny. The entire experience felt like something bigger than me helped bring it all together. My only wish is that I could have been there in person to meet everyone, but this production reminded me that it's absolutely possible to create something special from across the country with a great team. I recently photographed Joe Ariel (@joesbelly), Founder and CEO of @goldbelly, for his appointment as Official Food Curator of America250 and the launch of Taste of America250. We first met a few years ago on assignment for The Wall Street Journal. Great energy from the start, and it was even better to collaborate again on something with this kind of historical weight.
