Yesterday during Homecoming, I had a moment...

I've been feeling overstimulated lately (I don’t know why), so I found myself standing alone on the Alpha Plot, waiting for my boys, just watching old classmates laugh, embrace, and reconnect.

I started reflecting on the day. Former students thanking me for believing in them, holding them accountable, not letting them quit, and even saving their lives. Parents thanking me for taking care of their babies. Hearing about careers, families, accomplishments, and seeing the potential in my current students.

And it HIT ME...

Sometimes you're so busy doing the work that you don't realize the IMPACT of the work.

God allowed me to see the difference I've made on that campus and in my community. Not from arrogance, but pure gratitude.

Lord, THANK YOU for giving me a heart of servitude and allowing me to see the fruits of my labor.

Then I thought about my fraternity brother, Charles Powell ("Smoke"). Missing his presence, his encouragement, and wondering how I'll get through his service on Thursday.

And standing there, tears started rolling down my face.

Gratitude. Purpose. Joy. Love. Loss. Legacy. ALL AT ONCE.

Someone I went to school with noticed, walked up, and hugged me. No questions. Just an embrace. We exchanged "I love you," and that was enough.

THIS is why I LOVE HOMECOMING! It's bigger than parties and football. It's about people, relationships, memories, and those we wish were still here. Never take a moment or an "I love you" for granted. It could be the last time you see someone, the way life works.

SMOKE, I wish you were there, but somehow I felt you. 🕊️

I love my Spartans. I love my people. BEHOLD! 💚💛

And Lord, THANK YOU for blessing me with TWO HOMECOMINGS!

#43! Today, I'm not just celebrating another birthday—I'm celebrating God's grace, growth, and every lesson that brought me here.
