For a long time, I thought making the work was the hard part.

But eventually I realised I had characters, patterns and finished pieces that I genuinely believed in — and nowhere for all of it to really belong.

So instead of simply asking myself “What should I make next?”, I've started asking a different question:

“Where could this live?”

That question led me to build Glyphworks Studio — a home for the characters, the stories behind them, and the things they can eventually become.

I'm still figuring out where all of this is going.

But the work has somewhere to live now.

I Finally Put It Out There.

Last week I mentioned that my website and store was live

But strangely, that wasn't the biggest thing that happened.

For months I've been changing things, questioning where the work belongs and trying to understand what all of this is becoming.

Then this week, some of those ideas finally left my head and entered the real world.

The website went live.
The store became real.

And then I created a new space for Glyphworks Studio somewhere I can explore what happens to let my other characters have a place to play.

The wonderful realisation was that something that existed only in my head last week exists in the real world this week.

And now, I imagine what else I can make real

MY SEAMLESS JOURNEY — EPISODE 16
The Week It Became Real.

Last week, I talked about building things slowly.

This week, I understood why.

Behind something that looks finished are hundreds of decisions nobody ever sees.

Images that didn’t sit right.
Links that went nowhere.

Products that needed fixing.
Pages I thought were live… that weren’t.

There were plenty of moments when I wondered why it was taking so long.

But this week taught me something:

Patience isn’t waiting for the work to happen.
Patience is the work.

Sometimes determination isn’t a huge breakthrough.Sometimes it’s simply coming back tomorrow and fixing the next thing.

And after all those small decisions, tests, mistakes and adjustments, this week GLYPHWORKS went live.

I thought I was building it slowly.

Turns out I was learning how to build it properly.

glyphworks.studio is now live.

Characters. Culture. Coffee. Life.

Why I’m Building It Slowly

There’s a strange pressure to make everything happen quickly.

But I’m beginning to understand that not everything meaningful needs to be rushed.

Right now, I’m building slowly.

Not because I don’t have ambition.
Not because I don’t want it badly enough.
But because I want to build something I can actually sustain.

I’m learning as I go. Making mistakes. Changing things. Creating the work. Building the store. Figuring out what fits — and what doesn’t.

And maybe the slower seasons are doing something that the fast ones can't.

They’re giving me time to become the person capable of carrying what I’m trying to build.

This week’s episode of My Seamless Journey is about learning to respect that process.

A quiet confidence that says enough.

The Gentleman is a study in character, presence and those small details that make someone instantly recognisable.

Drawn from observation and shaped with a little exaggeration because the interesting part is rarely perfection.

Meet The Lover.

Some wear their heart on their sleeve.

The Lover would probably wear his on a T-shirt, carry a spare in his pocket and give you one just in case.

He’s affectionate. Hopeful. Perhaps a little too easily smitten.

SO WHAT DO YOU DO AFTER THE NO?

Last week I talked about rejection.

But I've realised the rejection itself isn't really the interesting part.

You read the email.
You feel disappointed.
You question things you probably weren't questioning five minutes earlier.

And then eventually… you go back to your desk.

That's where I found myself this week.

An agency can decide that my work isn't right for them.

But that's very different from deciding whether the work deserves to exist.

Maybe representation isn't the beginning of the journey.

Maybe it's something that joins the journey once it's already moving.

Last week somebody said no.

This week, I drew another character.

Maybe that's the whole journey.

MEET THE THINKER 🧁💭

Not every personality needs to be the loudest in the room.

Some of us like to sit back. Observe. Ask questions. Turn an idea over a few times before deciding what we actually think about it.

And then… think about it some more.

Meet The Thinker, Cupcake 3 from Sweet Behaviour.

Thoughtful. Curious. Observant. Occasionally guilty of overthinking.

When I was developing this character, I didn't want the expression to feel worried or unsure. I wanted that little moment when you can almost see an idea forming.

Less “I don't know.”

More…

“Hmm… what if?”

And that's what I love about developing Sweet Behaviour. Each character isn't simply a different expression, they're different personalities.

Personalities we recognise in our friends, our families and, occasionally, ourselves.

I can already imagine The Thinker living across journals, stationery, mugs, gifting and products made for curious minds.

Sometimes the quietest character has the busiest mind.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY SAY NO?

This week I received an email I didn't particularly want to get.

Someone I had approached about licensing decided not to move forward at this time.

And even though I knew this was always going to be part of the journey, it still felt like rejection.

When you spend so much time building something, you inevitably pour expectations into it. You imagine where it could go, who might see it, and what it could become.

Then you put it in front of someone else.

And suddenly, something that felt completely yours is being judged by somebody else.

This episode is about that uncomfortable part of building something of your own learning to separate someone saying no to an opportunity from saying no to you.

Because the work is still here.

And so am I.

Meet The Motivator.

He's the one who sees the potential in you before you see it in yourself.

Always encouraging. Always pushing forward. Always ready with a little reminder that you're probably closer than you think.

Because sometimes all it takes is one person saying:

“Come on. You've got this.”

And somehow… you start believing them.

Sweet Behaviour is my growing collection of character personalities, each one baked with a different way of seeing the world.
