Join us for a walk at Liberty Station

Come with us on a walk across Liberty Station park. We’ll meet at Old Town to take the 28 bus. From there we’ll explore the old naval training center with plenty of time and places to stop for coffee at Public Market or Moniker General.

Continuing south along the waterfront, we can chat about history, share restaurant recommendations, or spot some planes.

To end our walk, we will cross the Nimitz Bridge, and walk along the San Diego Bay until the airport. From there we’ll take the bus to Downtown and find ourselves some lunch. Alternatively there is also the Flyer bus back to Old Town.

This is a ~3 mile walk on mostly flat terrain. Wear closed shoes.

We’ll meet at 10:00 AM at Old Town Transit Center, West of the tracks (large parking lot) right at the bus stop of the 28.

Highways get BILLIONS from State taxes — but traffic just keeps getting worse. Meanwhile, the State is leaving behind what actually reduces traffic: TRANSIT 🚊

If MTS doesn’t get the funding it needs, cuts are coming. That means worse bus & trolley service, more riders choosing to drive, and even more traffic on our roads 😭

It doesn’t have to be this way ❌
San Diegans want transit. It works for many of us. It’s got great rider approval. It’s the future ✅

Shouldn’t we fund what actually reduces traffic?

All railroad traffic connecting San Diego County with the rest of the nation was suspended again last week. This time it wasn’t Del Mar. It was San Clemente, where high tides and coastal erosion are steadily eroding the tracks.

This is the reality of San Diego’s only rail connection to the rest of the country. It runs along an eroding coastline, and when the ocean wins, the region loses.

The Del Mar bluffs face the same threat. The bluffs are receding up to six inches annually in some areas, leaving the train tracks only feet from the edge in places. For more than 20 years, SANDAG has worked to stabilize the fragile bluffs with emergency repairs and multiple stabilization projects costing millions. But the sea level is rising, and the tracks need to be moved inland.

@ride_sd VP, @leifg, asks @cmwhitburn about his thoughts on the 215 during the D3 Town Hall.

The Rapid 215 is one of the most important routes in our transit system, serving our downtown, Balboa Park, SDSU, and some of the densest neighborhoods with the lowest rates of car ownership. It is of utmost importance that it be completed, with end to end bus only lanes, transit signal priority, and all-door boarding.

All Levels Welcome!

Crochet is basically 3D printing with yarn so we’re making coasters while riding the Coaster! We will catch the Coaster at Santa Fe Depot at 11:00 AM and ride until Oceanside, where we will enjoy a beer and food at Crackheads. We plan on taking the Coaster back to SD at 1:36pm, arriving back to the Santa Fe Depot at appx 2:40pm. taken in San Diego, California by @ride_sd
