In 2021, Trek did an emission audit and found aluminum was their largest contributor to greenhouse gases. After measuring this, they now set goals to reduce the impact, help train suppliers and require their supply chain partners to join them in the path to lowering emissions. Their two main strategies are to source aluminum made with renewable energy and recycled materials. Today they are already producing some "low emissions" aluminum frames.
