One of the biggest questions new riders ask is, “What do I actually need to bring?” The good news is you don’t need to buy every gadget at the bike shop before your first ride.

A well-fitting helmet, plenty of water, a few basic tools, and the right clothing will take you much further than an overloaded backpack full of “just in case” items. The goal isn’t to carry more, it’s to carry what matters so you can focus on learning, building confidence, and enjoying the ride.

The forecast is heating up. ☀️

Hot weather makes for epic rides, but it also means you need to pack for the weather.

Before you roll out, don’t forget:

- Plenty of water
- Electrolytes
- Snacks
- Sunscreen
- Riding glasses
- A basic repair kit

Crayon-melting heat in Cranbrook for @ridetheory’s Beginner and Strong Beginner camp this week. I was tempted to participate in the 72 hour anti-perspirant protection available donated in the College of the Rockies washroom, as it would have certainly helped me out a bit. Alas I put on my own deodorant at home. However, even though it was hot and we “hate our knee pads,” I did enjoy pedalling a total of 6 laps from the @firehallcbk where we enjoyed 3 consecutive stellar lunches consisting of Diet Coke x2, poutine, poutine, poutine, beef dip, burgers etc. Thanks to coach @quinn_knibbs and @alexa_arm.strong for their dedication and hard work to provide an amazing experience on bikes to our 5-9 year old beginners in the Cranbrook Community Forest. Also, shout out to this unexpected gathering of the Cranbrook Bucks at our ride’s starting location. taken in Cranbrook, British Columbia by @ridetheory
