What feels like something straight out of a movie has just become reality: our founder Thomas Riedel has acquired ARRI, the Munich-based premium manufacturer of camera and lighting technology for motion picture and live entertainment.

This step establishes a close strategic connection between ARRI and the Riedel Group – bringing together complementary expertise across the entire production chain, from camera optics to distribution. Both companies will remain independent, with their strong brands, structures, and operations unchanged.

The next chapter of a German success story spanning more than a century.

Was sich wie aus einem Drehbuch anhört, ist seit Kurzem Realität: unser Gründer Thomas Riedel hat ARRI übernommen – den Münchner Premiumhersteller für Kamera- und Lichttechnik in Motion Picture und Live-Entertainment.

Mit diesem Schritt entsteht eine enge strategische Verbindung zwischen ARRI und der Riedel Group. Dabei können komplementäre Stärken entlang der gesamten Produktionskette gezielt kombiniert werden – von der Kameraoptik bis zur Ausspielung. Beide Unternehmen bleiben eigenständig, mit unverändert starken Marken, Strukturen und operativen Abläufen.

On December 22, 2025, the "Sportler des Jahres" (Athlete of the year) awards were presented for the 79th time in Baden-Baden, Germany ✨

The European Handball Federation will use Riedel’s RefCam and Easy5G Private Network during the final weekend of the Men’s EHF EURO 2026 in Herning, Denmark (Jan. 31 – Feb. 1, 2026).

Bildquadrat reimagined how the Virtual SmartPanel can be used remotely during Cologne Pride 2026 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

With the Virtual SmartPanel running directly on reporters’ smartphones, teams across Cologne’s city centre could be seamlessly integrated into the production environment.

Connected to a server at Bildquadrat’s HQ in Düsseldorf and linked back to Cologne via VPN, the reporters were able to communicate as part of the Artist ecosystem, wherever they were in the city.

Beim Cologne Pride 2026 hat Bildquadrat gezeigt, wie flexibel unser Virtual SmartPanel auch remote eingesetzt werden kann 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Direkt auf den Smartphones der Reporter ermöglichte das Virtual SmartPanel die nahtlose Einbindung der Teams aus der gesamten Kölner Innenstadt in die Produktion.

Über einen Server am Bildquadrat-Standort in Düsseldorf und eine VPN-Verbindung nach Köln konnten die Reporter von überall in der Stadt direkt über das Artist-Ökosystem kommunizieren.

Wir freuen uns immer wieder zu sehen, wie unsere Kunden unsere Technologien auf ihre ganz eigene Weise einsetzen und dabei neue Möglichkeiten entdecken. Umso schöner, ein Teil davon zu sein!

Thomas Riedel, CEO der Riedel Group, war bei der Big Bang KI Konferenz in Berlin zu Gast und diskutierte genau darüber.

Im Austausch mit weiteren Expertinnen und Experten ging es um die Chancen und Herausforderungen von Künstlicher Intelligenz, aber auch darum, Neues auszuprobieren, mutige Entscheidungen zu treffen und KI bewusst und gezielt zu nutzen, statt nur darüber zu sprechen 🤖

IBC with our apprentices looked a little something like this 👀

Exploring the show, checking out some tech, meeting people from the industry… and also, taking on our annual trainee rally.

A bit of learning, a lot of teamwork, and plenty of hands-on experience along the way.

And yes, they had some backup! 🙌 Big shoutout to our training team for showing them around, sharing their knowledge, and making the whole IBC experience even better.

What an IBC! 🏆 We’re proud to celebrate some very special recognition for our products, projects, and contributions across the industry.

Our OnAir™ headset platform received an IBC Best of Show Award, while “Cinematic Live at Scale: ARRI ALEXA 35 Live and Riedel DIVA+ at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026” was honored with the IAMT Transformational Project Award. A fantastic recognition of what was achieved together with @arri, @orf, and @nep_group at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

The ESC production received even more recognition, with ARRI and ORF winning the EBU Excellence in Media Award 2026, acknowledging the collaborative work with Riedel and NEP behind the camera and broadcast workflows.

And there’s more: MXL won the IBC Innovation Award for Content Creation! We’re especially proud to see Riedel recognized alongside Grass Valley and Lawo as one of MXL’s largest code contributors.
