POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
We previously wrote about the public inquiries into the proposed expansion of Campsfield and Haslar Immigration Removal Centres. To recap: the Home Office plans to create around 1,000 additional detention spaces, expanding the UK’s detention estate by approximately 40%.

We cannot let this happen, and Right to Remain is challenging this, with all of you.

There is now a public inquiry into this matter, and we will be formally giving evidence as an interested party.

We are finalising our statement and are now calling on organisations to endorse our arguments opposing the expansion:

1. that the Home Office has not demonstrated a need for more detention spaces, and

2. that expanding detention will cause serious harm to people and communities.

NO MORE MIGRANT PRISONS - THESE WALLS MUST FALL! SIGN THE PETITION TODAY!

We demand an immediate stop to the huge expansion of Haslar and Campsfield detention centres, part of the government’s plans to increase detention capacity across the UK by 40%. This government is continuing to prioritise the construction of more detention spaces, ignoring the devastating impact it has on individuals and communities.

We refuse to stand by while the government expands a system that subjects more people to fear, uncertainty and dehumanisation. The harm of detention reaches far beyond the centres themselves. It affects families, friends and whole communities, changing how people live, trust, love and feel safe, while those around them are often left carrying the consequences long after detention ends.

It is time for Andy Burnham and Shabana Mahmood to stand up, reject the politics of anti-migrant hostility and choose the side of compassion and justice.

No more migrant prisons, no more separation of families, no more communities living with the fear and harm of detention and immigration enforcement.

We all deserve to live, work, love and build our lives in safety and dignity.

We are speaking as an interested party at the public inquiry into the expansion of Campsfield IRC.

- The impact of the expansion on people held in detention, including their mental health, humanitarian harms and human rights.

National Week of Solidarity to End Immigration Detention | 19–25 October 📣

Every day, people are detained under immigration powers in the UK, often without knowing where they’re being taken or when they’ll be released.

Immigration enforcement has escalated, with raids, arrests and detentions rising sharply. The harm extends far beyond the person detained, affecting families, friends, neighbours and support networks left to provide care and keep fighting for justice. But our communities are also places of resistance and solidarity. ✊🏽

From 19–25 October, the National Week of Solidarity to End Immigration Detention brings people together to challenge detention and raise awareness of its devastating impact.

Building on last year’s National Day of Solidarity, this year’s expanded week of action includes demonstrations, community gatherings, solidarity picnics, workshops, film screenings (Everybody to Kenmure Street) and letter-writing sessions across the country. 📽️🧺

📍 Want to get involved? Visit Right to Remain’s website via the link in our bio to find actions and events near you.
