Today is a heart-filled notch on the life timeline as I’m proud to share that not only will Jean-Michel premiere at @tribeca tonight, but it has found a home - that I’ve been lucky enough to come to love very much this past year - @netflix. I directed this film alongside the magnificent @quinnwilsonn who has become not only one of my favorite creatives I’ve dreamt with, but a marvelous person I’m so grateful to have in my life. There are floodgates of gratitudes to share throughout the journey to come but none more than to Jean-Michel Basquiat and his sisters for sharing their story - one that we can all learn so much from and most of all be inspired by. by @righteouscinema

A gratitude post.

This past year - when it comes to my creative core - has inspired me beyond words thanks to @theperfectneighborfilm . Memories, people I’ve met and lessons I’ve learned for a lifetime that I feel so proud and honored to have experienced.

Firstly, thank you to the love of my life and our little ones. You put up with so many late nights, dawn hours and weekends - my family made this all possible.

@geetagandbhir you are a force. Watching you change the world is something we can all learn from. That goes for the magnificent @message_pics - watching you all rise is thrilling. @parkpictures you continue to feel like home which is such a gift. @sob_prods - what a powerhouse that has become new family. Special shoutout to @filipemesseder and Laura Heinzinger for your mastery of craft in the soundscape and score. I can’t wait to dream with you for the rest of our lives.

From @sundanceorg - the beating heart of the most phenomenal starting line - to the historical and profound honor of being nominated by @theacademy , every step, conversation, platform, connection and empowering space - I’m looking at you @criticschoice @cinema.eye.honors and @acefilmeditors - is giving us hope for what we do and how we do it. And @adobe - you embraced us and this film and my editing heart in the most wondrous ways.

@netflix - you supported our vision and shared it with the world in the most spectacular way. That vision opened doors for conversations of approach and form that we all will endeavor to continue.

Most importantly, everything we did is for Ajike Owens, her family and her community. We wish we never had to make this film. Now that we are here, let us all commit to prevention, engagement and support and never forget: the world is what we make it. by @righteouscinema

My admiration, love and respect continues to bloom for @multitudefilms as I excitedly share the final installment of their Queer Futures series, THE CALLERS is being hosted by @newyorkermag. This film was brilliantly directed by @lindsey_dryden and she gathered a marvelous team that I was so grateful to be a part of. You can catch the entire series on the @criterionchannel. It’s a phenomenal collection of films centering joy and connection to radically imagine future visions of queer life. So thankful it exists and all should see it. by @righteouscinema

Vital work on the move thanks to an incredible team of creatives, artists and epic activists. The timing couldn’t be more crucial. The first episode is directed by the illustrious @geetagandbhir and I had the privilege of working a bit on episode 4 directed by the heart, @thereelrudyv. Editing alongside one of my absolute favs, @victorartesona. Every episode was driven by magnificent folks, with @dawnporter at the helm. Hats off to everyone involved. A must watch. by @righteouscinema

Another year, another chapter in the book. Complicated, beautiful and ever-growing. Grateful to be headed back to Sundance with a film I edited for some key figures of my creative core, @geetagandbhir and @parkpictures. Also excited for the release next year of another film I edited with @conduit__films that celebrates some powerhouse historical women and girls. And a special shout-out to @usaartisticswimming, who I had the honor of having a front row seat for the past few years, traveling the world and witnessing a magnificent journey of achieving a dream. I learned more from you than you’ll ever know and I will continue to shout your story from the rooftops for the rest of my days. And overwhelmed with gratitude for the crew I got to achieve my dreams with through that grand adventure.

I’m so lucky that I get to take part in work that engages with this world in ways I’m proud of. And the work is far from over. #onward by @righteouscinema

I’ve got one of the wildest weeks of my life ahead which calls for my yearly gratitude post for all the marvelous things I’ve gotten to be a part of...and of course introduce our newest little one, Finn.

I have two projects I worked on that are premiering at Tribeca this week, both with - surprise surprise - the incomparable @thereelrudyv. CARLOS which I edited and CHOIR which I supervised the edit. I also supervised the edit on QUEER FUTURES showing at the @fordfoundation - collaborating with a variety of phenomenal directors and my fav powerhouse @multitudefilms. Who also - with Rudy and @geetagandbhir and a squad of brilliant folks from HBO Max and Sesame Workshop helped bring a shiny wonder into my home (had to share that beaut who still feels surreal to look at).

One of my fav people @staceymeiyan is launching her first cookbook @50pies50states this week! A project that I’ve had the honor of witnessing (and eating) the process of over the past years. Pick up a copy, you’re welcome for some of the most delicious bites and wondrous stories you’ll encounter.

I just got back from being on set in the desert helping one of the most important people in my life @kkressal direct her first film - along with treasured creative family and a crew of folks who are on my life call sheet of dreams.

Speaking of life call sheet of dreams, I’ve been traveling the world the past two years filming something that has my heart overflowing and I can’t wait to share it as soon as possible. Currently in the midst of an incredible chapter in this wild ride around the sun and I’m taking it all in - and getting teary eyed with every word of that sentence…as always. by @righteouscinema
