Before the Les Paul became synonymous with Jimmy Page… there was the Telecaster. 👀🎸

Led Zeppelin I gave us some MONSTER guitar riffs and helped lay the foundations for hard rock.

These are my top 3 from the album.

Still trapped in pentatonic box 1? 👀

Learn shape 3.

It’s one of my favourite areas for finding new licks and starting to connect your solos across the fretboard. 🎸

Your solo doesn’t always need MORE notes.

Sometimes it needs more contrast. 🎸

Soft → loud.
Controlled → aggressive.
Space → intensity.

That’s dynamics, and it can completely change the way your solos feel

If your solos still sound like you’re practising scales… try this. 👀🎸

Think in phrases, add expression and start connecting ideas across the neck.

Scales give you the notes. YOU have to make them sound like music.

You DON’T need new scales to sound more 80s. 👀🎸

Take the pentatonic licks you already know and add aggressive bends, BIG vibrato and a little tapping and you’ll be transported straight back to the 80s. 🔥

Your chords need to sound more 80s. 🎸

Try these 3: sus2, add9 and Dadd9add11.

These chords will instantly transport your guitar playing back to 1987. 🔥

Want to sound more 80s? 🎸🔥

Try these 3 tricks in your next riff: pedal notes, palm-muted arpeggios and sus4 chords.

Simple ideas that can transform your riffs and give them MASSIVE 80s energy.

Power chords are great… but try THIS instead. 👀🎸

Double stops + a palm-muted pedal note = instant 80s rock riff territory.

There are so many guitar techniques available to us, and each one allows us to express ourselves in a slightly different way. But what would happen if we stripped all those techniques away and tried to play with just a single one?

In this video I am going to try and play a guitar solo with ONLY slides.

Switching pickups is a really simple, and free way of changing your guitar tone, but when you remove the visual aspect of seeing the pickup selector, can you tell what pickup is engaged?

Leave a comment with your answers!
