Living with a physical disability that is often not portrayed online or in media is a major reason why Rachel started sharing her life online as a disabled content creator. She knew that there were other people like her and wanted to fill that void when it came to representation of individuals who have higher medical needs.

When it comes to dating and intimacy, Rachel has had to navigate concerns and conversations about her disability that are typically not even thought about by the average non disabled person. Like how to effectively communicate to her partner what her physical needs are and how they can best provide support. And how people assume that her partner will only be treated as her full time caregiver, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

Rachel’s full interview with In This Body will be available to read in our first volume edition of our book, being published later this year.

Meet @theaustinhalls!

Austin is a disabled pop star, model, creator, and inclusion advocate based in New York. He was born with Moebius Syndrome, a condition causing facial paralysis. He’s walked in New York Fashion Week, worked with brands like Google, performed in spaces connected to the GRAMMYs, and is a voting member of the New York Chapter of the Recording Academy.

“I like making things that make people feel something. Music, fashion, photography, videos, whatever it is. My disability is part of my story, but it’s not the only interesting thing about me.”
