🏀 New favorite SF bar unlocked!

After months of fundraising and preparations, @rikkisbarsf has finally opened in the Castro. It’s part of an exclusive club – women’s sports bars are still something of a rarity in the US, but the number is growing rapidly.

@axiossf headed down to the official opening on Wednesday, where crowds lined up down the block to support the queer- and women-founded bar. Cheers erupted as the doors opened and within an hour the bar was absolutely packed.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: “People are so excited — the response has been phenomenal,” said Sara Yergovich, who co-founded the bar alongside friend and fellow sports fan Danielle Thoe. “It’s the perfect time with the Bay FC, the Valkyries and this increased professional-level interest in women’s sports in San Francisco.

“It felt like all the stars were aligning.”

If you can’t come see us at BALLHALLA, come to one of the participating women’s sports bar to help stop I-638 in WA. This ballot measure would drive our beautiful trans girls out of sports, in a state where inclusion has been a huge success for NEARLY 20 YEARS. If that wasn’t bad enough, to do this they’re going sex test every girl who wants to play sports. 🤮😡But we won’t let this happen, we’re going to send thousands of postcards to voters all about the beauty of sports. Come to @rikkisbarsf and send love where it’s needed.
