Today marks one year without you.This past year has taught me a lot about loss but it’s also taught me about love the kind that doesn’t fade, even when someone’s gone. I see you Soph in everything. Weather it’s in the songs we used to sing together, in the photos where your smile lit up the room, and in the quiet moments that make me stop and remember you. You left a mark on my life.Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you. I wish all the time for one more conversation; one more chance to tell you how much you really meant to me. Through every high and every low, you continued to always be there for me.She had this gift of making me laugh even when everything felt heavy. Even when we had our moments, or when life would get in the way we always found our way back. Sophie truly was the person who showed me how to forgive, how to grow, and how to seek change with an open heart.The truth is, people can be struggling and you might never know. Someone can look so happy, and still be fighting something silent inside. Suicide is a real struggle not just something seen online. So please, be gentle with people. Be the friend who checks in even if you haven’t talked in a while. Use your words with care. Take the pictures, hold them close. Because you just never know.And if you are struggling I promise there are people who love you more than you could imagine.So slow down. Appreciate the people who make your world brighter.
