Long drive, sketchy launch, no service. Perfect. The best fishing missions often start this way. My Tundra got us down the logging roads, backed the boat down the river bank with confidence and hauled us home after it was all said and done. Out there, capability matters - things like traction, clearance, power. With Tundra I know I have a truck that will get me there, and get me back… and if I’m lucky, maybe I’ll even find a fish while doing it. Sometime you have to just get in and go. No info on this river… maybe there’s fish, maybe there’s not. But arguably, my favourite thing about fishing is discovering the unknown. After a lengthy drive and a couple logging roads we launched the boat and made our way up river. Warm weather and rain made for tough fishing condition but we got eyes on the target section of river. A fishes day on the water but a successful mission nonetheless.

After 18 years in the Sea to Sky, we’ve moved back to the Okanagan. With a growing family, craving a bit of a lifestyle change and more space, we landed on an acre of paradise just outside of Vernon. Bittersweet leaving our Squamish community and landscape but we’re excited about new potential here. Lake hits, picking fresh veggies and fruit from the garden, tinkering in the shop, hanging with friends and family, is making the transition feel smooth. Drive - Boat - Drive - Boat - Bike - Hike - Fish. Some photos from a journey to a remote river with @kyepetersen. Hopping on his sea doo we made it to an inaccessible river, hopped on our @commencalcanada e bikes, pedalled about 15km upstream and then hiked another 6km to reach the runs that we thought could hold fish. A sweaty mission, hiking pool to pool, canyon to canyon, we eventually found what we were searching for. A good first mission, learning lots and putting the pieces together on the summer run fish. Launching a boat on the coast means you need to be aware of the tides. As the tide drops, it often uncovers algae covered cement that can be incredibly slippery. My Tundra has a few tricks to help with greasy boat ramps. Back up camera and roll down rear window makes backing in super easy. All Terrain Tires, Traction Control, 4WD and a rear locking differential means you can confidently pull even the largest boats out of any marina. Focus on the crab pots soaking and not on slipping out on the boat launch. These a just a couple things I use when out on a crabbing mission with my Tundra. And then we were four. We welcomed our daughter, Cole Lily Leboe, into the world on May 23rd. So grateful to have everyone healthy, enjoying and adjusting to our family of four. I got to put my @projetboat through the paces in Terrace this spring. It was a huge confidence booster following @fishnbc around for a few days and pushing where I was comfortable running the boat. I knew these tunnel hull inflatables would run shallow and 4x4 up some rocky runs but hadn’t done anything too crazy myself. I’ve had a few different inflatables over the years and they got a lot of things really right with this 470 - quick planing, no porpoising, predictable steering. Hyped for a summer of seeing where I can take this boat and the fish I’ll find there! by @rileyleboe

May Long Weekend means one thing in BC - camping season is on. Catching up on memories from the winter and keep coming back to the wild times with @chrisbenchetler and crew for Mountains Of The Moon. Truly impressive what they are pulling off in remote places, shooting all night, prepping all day, all while being dedicated to such strong visuals and vision. I was grateful to be a small part of it in the @mikewiegeleheli backcountry for their backcountry segment. I’ve had several people ask how I like my Tundra compared to my Tacoma. They are both great trucks but they do certain things better than the other. Here’s a few takeaways when I’m comparing Tundra to Tacoma. 1: Interior space the Tundra wins. If you have a car seat in the back, have lots of gear or regularly have adults in the rear seat, the Tundra CrewMax has all the space in the world where the Tacoma Double Cab can be a bit tight. 2: Fuel Economy, the Tundra gets about the same mileage as my previous model Tacoma. I will caveat this with the new Tacoma’s engine and powertrain is much more efficient than previous generations. Ultimately, I’ve been very impressed by the Tundra’s mileage with the V6 and 10 speed transmission. 3. Ride quality off road, the Tundra is smoother than my Tacoma was. The coil suspension in the rear is incredibly supple. My Tacoma rode rougher off road with leaf springs. I haven’t driven the new Tacoma yet but I imagine it will be smoother than my Tundra and previous gen Tacoma. 4. Maneuverability. The Tundra is a bigger truck so the turning radius is larger and the areas you can get into are more limited. The Tacoma’s small form factor is definitely going to get you more places on the trail. 5. Visibility. The Tundra has your driving position higher which gives you a great field of view. The Tacoma you are seated a little bit lower, which does improve leg room in a smaller truck, but it has more of a car like driving position. 6. Off Road Capability. The TRD Off Road Tundra has a rear locker and cool tech like crawl control and multi terrain select so it is amazing off road. But being a heavier truck with a longer wheel base, the smaller Tacoma, equipped the same way, will always be a bit more capable off road. It really comes down to priorities and how you use your truck.
