I made a very fun mosaic for fun with a mosaic school in the area. Enjoyed it so much that I might try to invest in the hobby and maybe make a bigger piece someday. I was able to be stress free and just place the objects in whatever way or pattern felt satisfying. Couldn’t recommend doing this enough!

Love taking close up pictures of my paintings and turning that image into its own painting. Such a good idea if you’re struggling with artist block!

“Mixture”

Oil painting
Maybe one of my most favorite paintings I’ve ever made. It was for a class with the assignment being about abstraction. I was inspired a lot by the color and quality of paint within works done by @angelinagualdoni her work is mesmerizing!

arcade in the park// sometimes I catch myself focusing too much on larger scale projects and I think that can take away from the joy of just creating for the sake of creating. A professor this past semester printed out copies of a letter from Sol LeWitt to Eva Hesse in regards to Eva’s artist block and I found myself revisiting the things in that letter. So I’ll leave you with his words “stop yourself and just Do!”

Presenting a very old test print!! Having the desire to create small stamps but always struggle to decide what to carve. We shall see if I get to it!

Whimsical sketch from a bit ago which became the reference for a painting I’m very proud of. The lack of specificity but also freedom that I feel with this sketch is something I feel like I struggle to emulate in larger scale projects. I have the tendency to focus on the small details of a larger image and use tiny lines to create them. I don’t think that’s a bad thing it’s just something that I do that makes me reflect on the imperfection of a sketch which is what makes them so magical to me. Embracing the imperfection and leaning in to what it feels like to produce work is what is going to drive me out of this creative rut I’ve been in.

Fun paint sketch of the marvelous Donna Summer. I have been really enjoying doing these low stakes mini paintings in between projects. I find that it helps me scratch that creative itch I always have but in doing so it’s relieving some stress. And because of that I think that’s why I end up liking them so much. I have so many sketches I’ve done in the past two ish weeks that I’m proud of and this might be my favorite.

Very quick and imperfect paint sketch from today. I haven’t felt like making art has been fun recently so I decided to play around a bit and not care so much about the outcome. There’s a lot of moments in this piece that I love but also think could be better but it felt so satisfying to do. I want to try and keep making these very fast sketches because they can sometimes serve as fantastic references for larger pieces.

Quick little self portrait testing out some black graphite. Really love how soft the graphite is and I can’t wait to try it on a some better quality paper!
