🤿 Spent the weekend at Blue Water Park putting the finishing touches on that Open Water Diver checklist! I'm excited to learn more as the classes come and perhaps one day I'll get to the DM level! There is so much to see under the water and being able to breathe is a cool plus (^:

Got to meet a couple curious fish, see some big catfish, various sunken treasures.

Glad I was able to finish the course out with my classmates! We did it, woohoo! The experienced divers aren’t allowed to judge my breathing 😂 Mark was a great instructor to lead our open water dives. And I definitely won’t forget Alan who prepared us so well that the open water dives were 🍰.

It’s been a year, woof!! But I’m happy 2025 was here, in ways…Overall, I had the experience of a lifetime, and hope I can make it my everyday. It snowed (and stayed) for the first time in Georgia. I was in a bridal party watching one of my besties get married, & had a really fun bachelorette trip/road trip. Tagged some fish, did fun content analysis on some freshwater fish, presented in one conference, attended another and met great people (life changing), OH got a puppy (who I had a breakdown for ~ 2 weeks tbh lol). Spent another quality year with Tyler aaaand YEAH. Enjoy a picture from the months past. Hope for some great news in 2026 ♥️ OH YEAH I GRADUATED TOO. by @rinadearest

So I posted a bit ago that I was in Miami. It was for shark research! It was a field portion of a class offered by @center_for_wildlife_studies with @whysharksmatter, along with @field_school & @sharktagging. None of this would be possible without their joint efforts to offer an experience to anyone who is willing to work and learn. It was amazing, we had great times and great catches. I couldn’t be happier with the few days we all spent together. I’m so happy to have met everyone in our group, it got very close and I appreciate them all and miss them dearly! There are tons of people to tag, you know who you are. Thank you for the crew, students, group members ♥️

For me, this was an experience to build up my skillset in shark research. I’ve not grown up next to the ocean, so I’m trying to take advantage of every chance I can get. This trip really solidified a sense of belonging. I’ve been reaching new levels of that feeling. First, belonging in school again, then science, then fieldwork/labwork, then shark science. Every aspect is so awesome to be able to observe and take part in, and I can tell that crew is strong as heck, those sharks are fighters and so are they! Can’t wait until the next adventure :) by @rinadearest

This was going to be a POV: you have dogs instead of kids to avoid sibling fights but it just turned into a really wholesome video of them growing up together 😭 Skye will be 1 year old next month!! We’ve come a long way from the dog that didn’t want the puppy to touch her at all. Now they act like sisters. The good and the annoying 😌

My first ever #AES and it couldn’t have been better. I met so many awesome people who all loved the same thing I do AND they get to do the research! Being present for their talks was awesome and we may have sat in talks for hours a day but I wouldn’t have it any other way. They were so fascinating and such a wide variety of topics on elasmobranchs.

Oh yeah. I *finally* graduated (: …then went to the aquarium…then went to Florida. I am TIRED but it’s time to get to work on a graduate position or an internship. It’s going to be a lot tougher than it has been, but we take things a step at a time and the world keeps moving. I’ve had great opportunities come my way the past almost 2 years, and I’m not going to let the experiences go to waste.

The road is not straight, especially in my case. I took some detours, and I enjoyed the stays. But in the end, I went back to the passion I’ve always had. The love I’ve had since the beginning of my memories. Wildlife and the ocean. Bachelor’s degree in Biology!

Thank you to all my friends and family who drove out for the ceremony, and the ones who were able to tune into the live stream ♥️ to my mom and dad for all of their support so that I could do my absolute best in school. Of course, to Tyler for always being the hype person of my life and telling me I can get through these classes.

Only a couple weeks left…and a few pictures from the last few ☺️ it’s been great, to say the least. Went inland to experience the forests, went to see the Newport sea lions, participating in a marine survey, intertidal survey, cut open some salmon. Loved it all!
