musician friends: why do you write music?

i write music for myself.

for me, music was never about being “cool”, the fame, or the views. it was about sitting down with MY emotions, and turning them into chords, lyrics, and instruments to help ME remember what i was feeling at the time i was writing the music.

listening to my music helps my body re-experience what i was feeling at that time and helps me remember who i am whenever i feel “lost”. it’s like an emotional time machine… it feels like magic.

it feels so freeing to realize all of this, because now i don’t feel obligated to the “shoulds”. i can just do me… and that’s more-than-okay :) by @rinatunes

I've been struggling with my artist identity for a while now, but after seeing my friends and other local (esp. queer) artists thrive these past few months, I found the motivation to stop overthinking and to just put myself out there.

@tnproject Thanks for fostering a supportive space where I could be myself. Last night meant a lot to me 💖 I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to perform and connect with the community 🫶🏻

Odaiba is an artificial island and is probably one of my favorite areas in Tokyo to visit as a tourist. All of the attractions and fresh ocean breeze make it a refreshing place to visit. ⠀
⠀
My top four recommendations are: (1) the Fuji TV Building, (2) Diver City, (3) teamLab Borderless, and (4) Palette Town (the name always reminds me of Pokemon, haha). Don't miss out on the giant Gundam light show in the evening!⠀

Went to check out Nagoya Castle on our day off. A good portion of it was still being renovated, but the coolest part was this diorama of the surrounding area from back in the days. The top photo is a view of what the castle looked like in 2015. Quite the resemblance, right?⠀

Went to Nabana no Sato to experiment with exposure for night photography. Took a bajillion shots but we managed to capture a couple good scenes. For these series of photos, I decided to diminish the saturation of blue lighting (originally in the foreground) to help the backdrops pop out. I think it makes things look more artsy? Shrugs.⠀ ⠀

I took a wellness walk around the block today, and I noticed an abundance of positive messages in street art on the walls of local businesses that had to board-up their storefronts. Wanted to share some of my favorites to help spread positivity amidst everything that's been going on. Oh, and Goku.

Discovered these walls during a short layover in Yangon. Absolutely love this! There's so much creative energy here, and is incredibly inspiring.
