I’m a Thanthropologist it’s not a real word but it’s a real thing and words are made every day so I’m making this one ! I study death from an anthropological perspective. Thanatology is the term for the study of death and anthropology is the study of humans, also my major!
.
✨As an undergraduate I’ve started working on research, I’m currently a co or secondary author on our project focused on medical school inclusion of death and dying curriculum. We recently presented a meta systemic literature review(a literature review of literature reviews). In the future we will be producing a survey that has the same focus but also involves MAID(medical aid in dying) content. (UPDATE WE GOT AWARDED 3rd place for the showcase)

Creating this document was a delightful and inspiring experience, I recognized the natural high of living within my purpose and passion. Originally made for the cultural death perspective’s unit of my universities Death and Dying course, I’m sharing it here because it’s a simple, accessible to start learning about death. From a philosophical standpoint I believe observing other cultural additudes, rituals and practices can help us deconstruct our own ethnocentricity and western death taboo.

Earth love + death awareness ? My cup of tea. With my reverence for death and the earth I wish to return to it someday, this drew me into ecological interment practices and I’m sharing some of them here for you to check out! Cemetery records edition: preserving historical cemetery records has been such a gift! It’s given me a greater appreciation for cemeteries as natural, cultural and community spaces! Trust me you are not spending enough time in your local cemetery. Working with records and in history has been an unexpected but delightful journey on my academic path, the context of the world grows more interesting and our history is engaging.
