My most recently posted painting shows a subway station, the “Subway UFO.” This work depicts the entrance on the other side of the street. It seems the architects ran out of imagination on this side-or perhaps they simply ran out of space-or maybe the UFO just flew away. In any case, this entrance -the „Über Untergrund“ (“Over-Underground”)-isn’t exactly inspiring. A hole in the ground, stairs leading down, a fence on the left, right, and back, a post with two signs… and there you have it. Sometimes-often, in fact-it just has to be pragmatic. After all, a huge number of passengers need to reach the subway every day. While I tried to capture what interests me in my painting-how the horizontal and vertical lines relate to each other, how the subway entrance, buildings, path, and street come together-as I write this text, I’m wondering if perhaps a secret underground train does, after all, run to Atlantis. „U-Bahn Ufo“ Acrylic on canvas 40cm x 30cm Underground stations are sometimes rather odd architectural constructs. Some are so wistfully beautiful, some so ugly that you wonder whether the design was really intended that way or is simply the result of a very bad day, and some are (unintentionally?) funny. Like this one here. It always reminds me of a UFO; to others, perhaps, it might look like a mushroom or an upside-down bowl. To me, it’s a metro UFO. Yes, of course, I’m ignoring the fact that it’s the entrance to the underground transport system and by no means a spaceport. Nevertheless, I’d rather dream of a spaceship that has landed, soon ready to take off again into galaxies, to planets, to perhaps friendly life forms and to lived wisdom from which we can learn. So wise that these life forms don’t fly into space out of sheer greed for money and a craving for selfies, but are on their way with a considerate thirst for discovery and a genuine interest in the unknown. I wonder what these life forms would learn from us humans? Perhaps to dream. I haven’t posted anything here on Instagram for quite a while, and I’ve hardly been looking around either. There are various reasons for this – turning points in my life that have made it not only necessary but also sensible to limit my social media activity. The way Meta runs things is another reason why I plan to be less active here in future. But, to be honest, it’s still important for my work to maintain a presence on Instagram now and then, and of course I enjoy the many wonderful posts you all share here. Furthermore, I am deeply grateful that so many of you have kept your support despite my long absence. 🤍 I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things in my daily life and, despite the restrictions, I’m working on new pieces with great enthusiasm. I’ll be showing some of them as part of ‘Landpartie 2026’ @landpartie_ organised by and featuring the fabulous Jörg Heikhaus, aka @alexxxdiamond. Jörg has put together an absolutely brilliant line-up of artists for this year’s event, and I feel it’s a huge honor to be exhibiting alongside all these fantastic people. Wird Zeit, dass wir Euch die Künstler*innen vorstellen. Den Anfang machen wir mit Stefanie Rausch, die schon häufig bei MEGA Contemporary gezeigt hat. STEFANIE RAUSCH (Hamburg) Künstlerisches Arbeiten ist für Stefanie Rausch sowohl Auseinandersetzung mit Gesellschaft, der unmittelbaren Umgebung und dem Ich sowie eine Bewältigungsstrategie unterschiedlicher Lebenssituationen. Mit unterschiedlichen Techniken der darstellenden Kunst vertraut und dabei gern experimentierfreudig, konzentriert sich Stefanie Rausch bewusst auf ein vergleichsweise klassisches Arbeiten in den Bereichen der Malerei, Zeichnung und Mixed Media, mit Ausflügen in die Bildhauerei. Die Herangehensweise an Idee und Material ist zunächst intuitiv – im Verlauf der Arbeit konkretisiert sie die inhaltlichen Aussagen sowie die formale Gestaltung, um diese schließlich in einem expressiv geprägten Stil auf den jeweiligen Untergrund zu bringen. Viele ihrer Themen findet sie oft im scheinbar Beiläufigen. Dem, was wir sehen, aber nicht wirklich sehen oder gesehen haben wollen. Das sind Alltagssituationen, kurze Momente, vordergründig Banales oder auch die faszinierende Ästhetik in einem scheinbar beliebigen Augenblick. Ihre Arbeit ist untrennbar verbunden mit dem Blick auf Weltgeschehen, soziales Gefüge und Politik, sodass sich immer wieder ein klares Statement finden lässt. Unter anderem geprägt durch Popkultur, speziell Comics, fehlt dabei selten ein humorvolles Augenzwinkern oder sogar ein wenig Slapstick in ihren Arbeiten. Die aktuelle Reihe widmet sich Landschaften, vielmehr Stadtansichten, die wir im Vorbeigehen vermutlich als bestenfalls nichtig, als schlicht hässlich und/oder als schmerzhafte Zäsur in der Natur empfinden würden. Der Mensch, der seinen Lebensraum aus Optimierungswahn, Profitgier oder einfach schlechtem Geschmack so gestaltet, dass dieser verwundet oder sogar zerstört wird, wird so zum Symbol für die eigene Verletzlichkeit, Baufälligkeit, Sterblichkeit. @rirarausch LANDPARTIE ‘26 4. - 19. 𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗙𝗔𝗛𝗥𝗧 𝗭𝗨𝗥 𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗘!!! 🚌 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 : 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗲.𝗮𝗿𝘁 Liebe Hamburger, es geht wieder los: Die zweite LANDPARTIE ruft euch! Am Samstag, den 11. Juli feiern wir den ganzen Tag lang die Kunst im wunderschönen Angeln - und ihr könnt ganz bequem von Hamburg nach Scheggerott cruisen. Mit einem komfortablen Reisebus geht es um 11:30 Uhr an der Feldstraße los und abends gegen 23 Uhr wieder zurück. Zur Ankunft gibt es Kaffee und Kuchen, bevor am späten Nachmittag der Grill angezündet wird. Lagerfeuer machen wir auch, klar. Es gibt natürlich wieder handwerklich gebrautes Bier der @kehrwieder_kreativbrauerei vom Fass und Weine vom @weingut_tesch , dem Winzer der Toten Hosen und des Wacken-Festivals. During the holidays, in between, and up until now, I have slowed down a little, tried to take a breath, worked less, but made a lot of sketches. I’ve often said that I’m in love with sketchbooks and that this kind of artistic documentation, capturing moments, is very important to me. But it also helps me to organize my thoughts, to understand, to remember, and supports me in planning future work. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎄🎉 I wish you all a wonderful, warm, and friendly holiday season. May you celebrate with your loved ones, find community when you are alone, and feel safe and secure. I am not religious, but I deeply believe in the power of love, understanding, and togetherness, which ensures that the lights stay on and hope for peace remains. For me, 2025 had it all. Incredible highs, joy, happiness, opportunities, and lows, frustrations, defeats, and even irretrievable farewells to loved ones. Right now, as the year comes to an end, in view of all those who are suffering, I am deeply and humbly grateful for the people who support me, who cry and laugh with me, who open up new paths for me and help me to leave old paths behind and let life be. Okay, maybe it’s getting too cold for a delicious ice cream while strolling through the city. Or maybe not? At least the Hanseatic people don’t care about the weather-induced icy air. They wear shorts even when the temperature is well below zero, show off their tattoos on their upper arms, wear their jackets casually like a bag accessory, and of course, they have ice cream. Not me. I’m a wimp. 🥶 On the other hand, I always find it funny, grotesque even, when I see that huge plastic advertising ice cream cone in the city center, directly opposite one of the numerous Christmas markets. It’s as if the ice cone is defiantly and stubbornly sticking its tacky tongue out at the rows of Christmas trees and celebrating the dream of summer. Who doesn’t feel a longing for the south, for the fairy tale of a sun-kissed, carefree holiday escape? Or are we team hoping for snow to cover our fears, flakes to whisper peace to us and a craving for comfort and safety?
