Black Business Month is more than a celebration of entrepreneurship. It’s an opportunity to recognize the ingenuity, leadership, and economic impact of Black business owners, while continuing to strengthen the resources and communities that help entrepreneurs build for the long term.

That’s why we’re proud to celebrate entrepreneurs like Al-Shakise Anderson, Founder and CEO of BWS Massage Concierge.

For 12 years, Al-Shakise has continued to build, evolve, and serve, guided by family, faith, focus, and a commitment to growth. A 2018 Community Business Academy graduate, his journey is a reminder that entrepreneurship is about more than starting a business. It’s about sustaining it, adapting through different seasons, and creating something that can make an impact.

For Daisy Álvarez, founder of Ploutus Lab Inc., Hispanic heritage is something carried forward: from her grandfather’s journey as a Venezuelan immigrant to her own, and into the tools and opportunities the next generation will inherit.

At Presenta y Gana, Daisy also reflected on something at the heart of our community: we get further when we help one another.

An Ecuadorian friend helped connect a Venezuelan entrepreneur to Rising Tide Capital. That connection led to new relationships, new support, and another community of Latino entrepreneurs growing together.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate our heritage, our ancestors, and what each generation is building for the one that follows.

We keep helping one another. We keep growing together.

Para Daisy Álvarez, fundadora de Ploutus Lab Inc., la herencia hispana es algo que llevamos con nosotros y transmitimos: desde la historia de su abuelo, inmigrante venezolano, hasta su propia experiencia como inmigrante y las herramientas y oportunidades que heredará la próxima generación.

Durante Presenta y Gana, Daisy también reflexionó sobre algo que está en el corazón de nuestra comunidad: llegamos más lejos cuando nos ayudamos unos a otros.

Una amiga ecuatoriana ayudó a conectar a una emprendedora venezolana con RTC. Esa conexión abrió las puertas a nuevas relaciones, nuevas formas de apoyo y otra comunidad de emprendedores latinos creciendo juntos.

Este Mes de la Herencia Hispana, celebramos nuestras raíces, a quienes vinieron antes que nosotros y todo lo que cada generación está construyendo para la siguiente.

“They gave roots to my dream.”

Martín Escobar came to the Community Business Academy with something that had once been a conversation with his family and partner: the idea for what would become ProUnited Accounting.

Through education, guidance, and support, he watched that idea begin to take shape. In his words, his dream started growing roots.

Today, his business is dedicated to helping members of the Latino community navigate taxes, establish businesses, find guidance, and pursue their own ambitions.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate entrepreneurs like Martín who are turning dreams into businesses and using what they build to serve the communities around them.

From a dream, roots are born. From those roots, a community grows.

“Le dieron raíces a mi sueño.”

Martín Escobar llegó a la Community Business Academy con algo que alguna vez había sido una conversación con su familia y su pareja: la idea de lo que llegaría a convertirse en ProUnited Accounting.

A través de la educación, la orientación y el apoyo, vio cómo esa idea comenzó a tomar forma. En sus propias palabras, su sueño empezó a echar raíces.

Hoy, su negocio se dedica a ayudar a miembros de la comunidad latina con sus impuestos, la creación de empresas y la orientación que necesitan para seguir creciendo y alcanzar sus propias metas.
