A 'Recipe for the Senses' for @vogueportugal explores the dialogue between heart and brain. Based on the initial creative direction by @aboutlight_, I developed two opposing hair languages for the film.The heart is instinctive: soft texture, looseness and movement driven by gesture and air. The brain is controlled: sleek, wet and precise, defined through clean yet textured silhouette and sharp middle part.The process was intuitive and highly collaborative on set, adapting in real time to the rhythm of the production and the needs of the story. For @bibiabdulkadir in the @manifestomedia editorial I created a sleek-back, high-shine hairstyle. The starting point was adapting the structure to her recently cut textured hair, which naturally tended to spring back. I didn't want to force it with strong gel or alcohol-based hairspray. Instead, I started by using a flat brush with tension and medium heat to gently guide the hair into a flatter direction. Once the foundation was set, I applied wax section by section to refine the structure, control flyaways and enhance shine. The result was a clean yet slightly textured silhouette that held its shape despite the humidity outside. Thanks to the amazing team for having me. When working with references like the 80s, the challenge is not inspiration, it's rather control. And by "control" I mean knowing when to stop. With @philipblythman and @claudineblythman we explored that space through a Linda Evangelista-inspired direction of @itsdaltond. The risk with such references is falling into something too literal or overly stylized, where the image starts to feel dated instead of relevant.My approach here was to extract the structure – volume, silhouette, attitude – and rebuild it with a lighter, more modern finish. Adjusting shapes and texture so it holds the reference, but still works for today's image language and camera. This is often the balance on set: how to translate iconic beauty into something current without losing its strength. I love working with Gen Z, there’s a specific kind of fearlessness I see in new-wave creatives. They’re open to experimentation and always bring something new to the table. A shout out to the creative duo @albanomerobbins and @nhausmannn 🖤This shoot for @sickymag is exactly that: raw, honest and unfiltered. These portraits of @viktoriayerchyk from @wildatheart.agency feel deeply intimate and even vulnerable to me.For this look I experimented with a new product that provides hold and a soft root shine, while allowing for a controlled, styled “break” in the texture, deconstructing the shape into something intentionally undone.
