It was a hot one today but I still needed to get my yayas out
So we took a short and sunny “hike” and by hike I mean stopping for water breaks and riding in my @heylittlechonk
My @wilderdog harness is pretty new and needs to be adjusted but it is super lightweight and cooler than some of my other harnesses so it’s perfect for this heat

today was my first round trip hike up Caballero Canyon across Mulholland and down Reseda
mom’s super jazzed
what this looked like was about 1.8 miles up, about a half mile in my @heylittlechonk Maxine to Mulholland, walking another mile or so, back into the Maxine, then walking the rest of the way downhill. Also drank all of my @heylittlechonk Lil Gulp (mine is the Mint color but it’s more like celadon per mom who doesn’t love mint)

kinda chic to get adopted

while I cherish the foster families I had along the way and all the people and communities who came together to take care of me, especially after I was discarded and left for dead

So today our @heylittlechonk ‘Maxine One’ arrived and my mom ordered this backpack in size medium for me bc even tho I’m svelte I’m a bit tall on my three legs. She thought the grey would be a better color for me. Anyway my mom rilly wants me to go hiking with her ^which^ I did this weekend before the rains but I ^did^ get a little tired after a while because (a) I’m not used to hiking at all and (b) I only have three legs right?

Mom did ^a lot^ of research before buying the Maxine One based on fit and usage. Some other brands she looked at were Ruffwear (hitch hiker) and K9 (knavigate).

We think this is so chic and it fits my mom great but ofcs I need some time to get used to the idea. Today we did some open pack treat investigation (I prefer salmon 🍣) bc I am not sure about this whole concept. It looks good tho!

came to my foster home four weeks ago today! it’s been the best four weeks I can remember. even though I’m still working on house training I’ve become so much more relaxed, secure, playful, and responsive // less reactive and skittish // more courageous when it comes to climbing on things to get food, three legs or not
mom says she is waiting on my adoption paperwork to come thru 🤞🏻

we’ve been so busy at my house but today I went to the dog park for the first time. It wasn’t terrible! The other dogs were pretty nice to me and I spent most of my time sniffing and walking around. Maybe next time I’ll engage with my peers but for now it was a pleasant enough hour in Calabasas and the best part was I got a lot of Mom time. Mom rates Calabasas Bark Park higher than I do because she says it’s clean, well-maintained, has shady spots to sit, and a quiet parking lot. Any other park suggestions, please?

Happy National Dog Day 🐕 to everyone but especially my sister Penny! She’s almost 12 so she knows *a lot* and teaches me everything important like
how to pull on leash
how to get treats without sitting
how to get these people to do whatever I want
how to be loyal and calm
Can’t wait until she teaches me how to hate fireworks 🎆
