I made this mosaic lamp! A few months ago I took a workshop and finally got around to the final step, putting on the grout. We were given plain glass lamp pieces and chose the beads and tiles to apply. Should have taken more pics of the design and glass tile applying process but here’s the end result! by @ritabeth13

Rest In Pets sweet Mariah. She loved singing, her grooming glove, salmon, having a beautiful hairdo, living in her diva suite, and taking her house strolls while the other household cats were asleep.

She came indoors in the fall of 2024 starving and sick, and we don’t know anything about her life beforehand. I suspect she was well-loved at some point because she was a cuddler. She was definitely well-loved in her final years here.

Last week, she had started declining rapidly over a few days, and after two different vet practices said they thought it was her time, we said goodbye. As she left, I pet her with her grooming glove, as the vet and Mariah’s tearful vet tech best friend gave their final pets too.

It always feels too soon or too late, and “making the call” is always a tough one. There is never enough time to show them all the love and comfort they deserve while they are with us.

TY Mariah for finding your way to me, being my first cat bite (I was asking for it), first senior cat, one of many animal heartbreaks that we are lucky to have when we give care to these sweet souls. by @ritabeth13

Link in bio for full story and donation help. This week, I found Mariah partially paralyzed, unable to move her back legs or tail. We are still searching for the cause but we know this not the end of her story yet, and she is already showing small signs of recovery. Please help with her costs so we can help her heal. by @ritabeth13

Hooo this one had us sweating 😮‍💨

We don’t know how these two kittens got down into this courtyard, but we do know that they didn’t know how to get out. They were disoriented and fearful, electing to stay put and cry for days as a kind neighbor fed them daily via her fire escape. 😵‍💫

It was a massively humid evening when we rolled up (the city shelter had not responded to her requests for support), and we were working around kids playing ball, an impatient super, and a passageway leading to a bustling street.

Thankfully, we used some improvisation (and circus!) skills to puzzle through this one. 🧩

Some tips from this rescue:

🫧 Priority is not spooking the kittens into hurting themselves or running out into unfamiliar streets. It’s always worth your time to remain calm and assess your options.
🧺 Limiting the area can be your greatest asset with spooked cats—indoors and outdoors. The laundry room (which has one door and no open windows or crawlspaces) was a huge boon.
🤝 Teamwork is everything. This rescue was truly only feasible with a communicative duo on site, and we’re so thankful for being co-conspirators!

Now comes the hardest part of all: finding some patient and loving fosters willing to work with one or two of these displaced kittens! 🥺

Are you ready to foster or donate some quarters to Wash & Fold?? Submit a foster form and reach out! 🤗

Crown Heights 1Br/1BA available, $2550, Sep 1 or Oct 1! Subway stop is Kingston-Throop on C.
We’re moving and would love to not lose a rent-stabilized apartment forever. Flexible on terms / timeframe.
Apt is on two levels, with one room on a basement level (we use it as a living room).
The a/c & heat are by electric units in each room.
Laundry machines on same floor and shared w 2 other apts.
Large yard that hardly anyone else ever uses - some friendly cats love to visit and will be your friend!
These pics are from before we moved into the apt in 2021, will post some updated ones soon, but it’s the same. by @ritabeth13

Would love to bring these two inside, but there’s nowhere yet for them to go! Can anyone foster?

They’re pals and can also be fostered together.

They’ve been hanging in my yard, and are starting to be bullied by the other cats in the area :( by @ritabeth13

Sweet senior Ronette was admitted to the Animal Medical Center ER on July 4, and the estimate is over $8,000. She has stabilized and is doing much better. Please share and donate on Venmo @ rita-beth or the Venmo link in bio.
As with all of the cats I help, pay these funds with my own personal money and then am lucky when I recoup even 10%.
I haven’t even had time to post the thousands I’ve spent on her vet bills so far the past few months leading up to this visit.

Ronette had been struggling with her appetite despite trying many different meds which would briefly work and then stop. She dropped to a tiny 4.4 pounds in a short period of time and we could not wait any longer.

As a cat with chronic kidney disease and hyperthyroidism, she requires a lot of care and monitoring. Though still in the ER, her appetite has returned and the ER team has gotten her back on track with continuous fluids, lots of testing, and some tweaks to her meds after learning more about her condition from the tests.

Hopefully she will return to her loving foster home tomorrow night, but it’s still not clear if she may need some more treatments at the ER. by @ritabeth13

My fave type of acro move - looks hard, is fairly easy! Especially when basing a flyer with super form like @butchpacklife.
