The RIT Baja Team won first place at the Baja SAE Ohio competition, outperforming 83 collegiate teams from around the world including Cornell, the University of Michigan, Purdue, Ohio State, Union University, and SUNY Binghamton, to name a few.

In addition, the team is National Championship runners-up. RIT took 2nd place in the Mike Schmidt Memorial Ironteam Award, presented to the top-performing teams of the 2026 North American season. by @ritengineering

We enjoyed giving high school students from Greater Southern Tier BOCES (@gst_boces) a glimpse into life as an engineering student at RIT.

The group toured the Brinkman Lab and Machine Shop and did hands on work in the Toyota Production Systems Lab and the Semiconductor Nanofabrication Lab where they cleaved silicon wafers used to make computer chips.

We can 3D print plastic, concrete, and glass... but what about metal?

Denis Cormier, Earl W. Brinkman Professor of industrial and systems engineering in RIT’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering (@ritengineering), is researching a new approach to 3D metal manufacturing that uses molten metal droplets to rapidly create complex parts. Unlike conventional 3D printing methods, this liquid metal 3D printer technology works like inkjet printing, jetting hundreds of molten metal droplets every second. The result is a faster, more scalable approach to industrial 3D printing and manufacturing metal parts.

This innovative industrial engineering process could help expand the use of metal 3D printers in industries ranging from automotive and marine manufacturing to other large-scale industrial applications, potentially changing how metal parts are made in the future.

High school students from the New Visions Engineering program at Greater Southern Tier BOCES (@gst_boces) visited KGCOE yesterday for a hands-on experience in our engineering labs.

The students spent time in RIT's Toyota Production Systems Lab and Semiconductor Nanofabrication Lab (SNL), where they gained practical insight into advanced engineering processes. Dr. Parsian Mohseni, associate professor in microelectronic engineering, led a tour of the SNL, during which students participated in cleaving a silicon wafer, a process of breaking the wafer into smaller parts for use in electronic components. by @ritengineering

This past July, RIT Launch Initiative (@launchinitiative) placed 1st in Design Quality, 2nd in Build Quality, and 1st in Technical Documentation at the 2026 International Rocketry Engineering Competition. The team placed in these areas out of 141 teams at the competition. Congratulations Tigers! 🚀 by @ritengineering
