My experimental film Sympoiesis is having its first public screening at the New Jersey Film Festival on Sat Jan. 28 @ 5- 6:30pm. Tickets to the shorts program in my bio

Original score by Tim Duyzer 🎺

--

Sympoiesis - ‘Making-with, boundaryless, collective creation. From σύν ("together") and ποίησις ("creation, production"). Coined 1998 by M. Beth Dempster.

Things came full circle when I recently found out that Beth is from Vancouver and runs the Convivial Cafe along the seawall. I had the chance to chat with her over the holidays and learn a bit more about her journey in urban planning and ideas on self-organizing systems others that influenced ideas that re-emerged years later through researchers like Donna Haraway and Anna Tsing.

Much love to the many friends who gave this a watch and offered a clear set of eyes 🫶🏾 @04meghna, D, A, JC, @thomaslotito, @jaylenxx, @morganrobertsondubois, @miroweart, @stanzenkov, @oh.it.flows by @rithikha

Something electrifying about idea incubation spaces.

Su Buqing et al. in the Jiangnan Shipyard computer room

Kolkata's Indian Coffee House (squint hard enough and you might find Tagore or Amartya Sen in those seats)

Tang Da Wu performing at the Singapore's Artists Village (the first artists commune in the country)

Some hallway noodling in an echo-y apartment. Ended up mashing modified lyrics from Sisyphus by @andrewbirdmusic to the chords of Big Black Car and a pretty tune that came tumbling out :) taken in The Summit by @rithikha
