My dad played so many important roles in my life. Mentor, Coach, Best Friend and Dad.

If I could live 100 more times, I think I’d pick you as my dad every single time. My dad always said that if he were to go tomorrow, he had no regrets. Isn’t that something. All the stuff he did in his life, nothing to regret. But I have something in common with this. These last few years have been personally rough for me. I made a decision that I chose to hang out with my dad more than my friends. I choose him over friends. I feel like god had a hand in that decision. For me, as a 16 year old in high school. In a highlight of my life. And choosing my dad over friends. I have no regrets.

As my coach. We spent countless hours talking and playing the game of hockey. You would mostly catch him saying “PASS THE PUCK”. My dad was the king of 1-T’s. He was like the 50 year old Ovi. Our dream was the see Philly win a cup in our lifetime. Sadly, he will never get to see it. We were gonna start tailgating at 4 am for the parade when they won.

Finally, as my dad. He raised his family perfectly in my eyes. And somehow, with all the stories he’s told me and trusted me with them idk how or why but I’m thankful. He always provided for us and wanted the best for us. His sacrifices for our family were unmatched.

With my brain still processing this. It still hasn’t hit me how much my life has changed. He’s not gonna be sitting with me watching the Flyers games. He’s not gonna be there my senior year. He’s not gonna be there seeing me get my license. We’re not going to be the “father-son” duo in a men’s league game. I never got to have a beer with the man. He’s not gonna be there on my wedding day. He’s not gonna see me have kids, become a dad just like him. He’s not gonna meet his grandkids. I was always hoping he’d hold his grandson and say “I hope this one will make it to the league”. If you knew me and my dad, We were inseparable.

Dad,
I can’t thank you enough. For everything. I mean it and I can’t wait to share your love and passion.

Love you, and I’ll see you there one day.

Absolutely shocked and heartbroken knowing that Johnny and Matty are gone….. My brian can’t even process this. Johnny thank you for being a nice guy on and off the ice and just helping kids out whenever you could. I’ll miss seeing you skate all the time and I’ll never forget that kid who became a legend from Hollydell. And thank you Matty for always spending time with us kids and coming back to your roots. John was one of my idols. I thought about him every day even way before this. Him and Matty never forget their roots and community. Thank you for being one of my inspirations to work hard and I will continue to do so. I would say a lot more but I still cant fully function this. Please continue to pray for their wives, Johnnys kids, their sisters, parents and the entire Gaudreau Family. RIP Johnny and Matty. by @ritzy_66

Yesterday, I had to say goodbye to my grandma. She was an amazing soul. She was a loving, caring, and special person to me. Our relationship was Beyond compare. I love you grandma so much. I would say a whole lot more but I will save it for later. Im glad I was able to see you before you passed. I love you grams❤️

I always wanted you to be a Flyer, and it happened!, not for as long as I wanted, but in life you can’t get everything you want. I really enjoyed and loved watching you play as a flyer! It’s hard to get a hometown kid in his favorite jersey! A lot of people may disagree with me, but Thank you for everything you did in Philly Tony! Today is a very heartbreaking day. Although heaven gained another angel today. Livi was such an amazing dog she would love to sleep and cuddle with anyone she was comfortable with. Knowing your with Lucci is heartwarming. I’ll miss you laying with me. I’ll miss you fighting dad. I’m glad you’re in no pain and your running around with Lucci and having a blast.
