It’s been an amazing 2026 season!🎉

Join us for our annual End of Season Potluck celebration on Sunday, September 27th from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at the Portland Rowing Club.

Finally, a moment to get to know your swimming community with their clothes on. Though there is a chance for a dip off the rowing club dock.

That’s former Mayor Charlie Hales, back in 2017, helping us unrock this bowl.

Long before this redesign competition, HAP volunteers spent a full day hauling rip-rap rocks off the Tom McCall Waterfront shoreline and moving them back to the bank, by hand, to start building a real beach right in downtown Portland. We called it UnRock the Bowl, and it’s the same riverlution we’re still fighting for, mayors included.

Now the city is picking a team to redesign this whole park, and we want Portlanders in the room. Meet the three design teams, see their work, and tell them what you want this space to be.

Free event, fun activity to share your hopes, seated program starts at 7pm. ASL and Spanish interpretation on site. Wednesday, September 23, 5:30-8pm at The Mark Building.

Someday we want Splashdowns on both sides of this river at the same time. This is how we get there.

An absolute beautiful morning out on the river, as always!

The water temp is cooling down a bit at now 67 degrees, but the air is still chillier than that.

Andrea, one of our amazing captains (pictured here), celebrated her last swim of her 50th decade with us! We are SO lucky to have you in our pod, Andrea! The Huggers truly wouldn’t be what they are without you. 🎉🎂

Due to algae bloom, we have cancelled our swims through the rest of the week (Saturday, 9/5). 🦠🚫

We are hopeful this heavy rain will breakdown the algae and wash it and the toxins downstream so we can get back to the rest of the season!

Stay safe out there, and we hope to see you back in the river soon.

‘Down By The River’ is a celebration of what we can accomplish when we come together.

We have a solution to the algae bloom. Ten years of research with OSU went into the plan to fix what’s broken in Ross Island Lagoon, and this fundraiser is how that work keeps moving.

Come toast the wins, then help us fund the next one.

The bloom that shut down splashdown and lloyd live didn’t come out of nowhere, and it’s not going away on its own.

Last week we shared what a real fix looks like, backed by years of research with OSU and a design that’s ready to go. What’s missing is a state agency willing to lead, set a timeline, and fund the work to get it built.

Our last double heat swim of the season on Friday morning! ☀️

The water felt silky smooth and was a comfortable 73 degrees as we swim closer to 2k swims of the 2026 season.
