Do you know the story behind the “Mad Money” Pendant?

“Mad Money” refers to any money, usually a small amount, set aside for spontaneous or even impulsive purposes.

During the Great Depression, it became very popular to hide money in jewelry as a way to keep cash close. Later in the 1950s-70s, these charms became whimsical and humorous good luck charms. Because you never know when you may need an extra dollar!

This solid gold pendant from the 70s contains a folded real $1 bill and says “IN EMERGENCY BREAK GLASS” with a tiny hammer charm.

Awhile back, a lovely customer named Evie came in looking for a unique piece for her helix piercing; something delicate and comfortable that stayed put in her active day-to-day, but also something she couldn’t find anywhere else. And thus, the Evie Mini Threader was born!
