Spring ‘26 Grad Spotlight - Xinrui Liu

Xinrui is a director and production designer drawn to stories that explore psychology, trauma, and human behavior. Xinrui’s approach to filmmaking is one of creation of emotional worlds, using environments, textures, and visual language to express emotions and inner psychology beyond dialogue.

She is passionate about world-building and creating immersive spaces where audiences can feel something before they fully understand it. Her work blends grounded emotion with carefully curated aesthetics, aiming to create stories that stay with people long after the film ends.

Congratulations Xinrui, your work ethic and creative spirit have left a mark on the department and on all your peers and collaborators. We can’t wait to see what comes next for you! by @rixirixill
