❤️ One of the things I love most about the Crowning Confidence Drive is that it’s about neighbors helping neighbors.

This year, we’re honored to welcome @rizospizzeria as one of our local vendors.

Behind every small business is a family with a story. Right now, Rizo’s is going through a difficult season, and we’d love for our community to show them a little extra love.

👑 Welcome to the Crowning Confidence Drive. 👑

A fresh haircut. A backpack full of school supplies. A smile. A moment of confidence.

On Sunday, August 9th, we’re coming together to give back to our community by providing FREE haircuts, backpacks, face painting, local vendors, and self-care services for moms while they wait.

This is about more than preparing kids for school—it’s about reminding every child that they matter, they belong, and they deserve to walk into the classroom with confidence.

Over the weekend, I had the privilege of meeting Vanessa and hearing her family’s story firsthand at a fundraiser organized by @thedesignhubstudios

Like so many stories we see online, it’s easy to think these things happen somewhere else, to someone else. But this is happening right here in our own backyard.

Vanessa’s husband, Robert, was recently deported after spending nearly his entire life in the United States. He arrived here as a young child and built his life, family, and future in the Central Valley of California. He worked full-time as a barber while building their dream within Rizo’s Pizzeria, where his award-winning pizza creations helped put their small business on the map.

In a single moment, everything changed.

Now Vanessa is navigating life without her partner by her side while facing the overwhelming emotional and financial burden of a lengthy legal process. Attorneys have advised that bringing Robert home could take years. 3-7 of them..

Imagine waking up tomorrow to find your partner gone, your family’s income gone, and no clear timeline for when you’ll be reunited.

Whether you agree with immigration policies or not, this is a family. A wife. A father. Children. A small business. Real people whose lives were literally turned upside down overnight.

Hi everyone, first and foremost we want to say thank you so much for all the support we have received. Beyond thankful. I have been asked by a lot of friends and family for a go fund me. Hey besties , so as some may know Roberto our pizzaiolo Was Deported back to Mexico by ICE . A few weeks ago. Unfortunately he can not come back without a lawyers help. He’s been here since he’s been two! A father, my love is my business partner with our Rizo’s pizzeria. he’s also a barber, Great friend and didn’t deserve to have our family ripped apart. We are devastated. So with Roberto being a sole provider for our family it has been hard on myself (Vanessa ) and our son and girls. Really hard time for us. So I will be doing a fundraiser tomorrow and maybe a few other times to help with lawyer fees. So the way to help is buying pizza. All proceeds will go to lawyer fees and anything else that is needed for our family. So asking our vendor community, friends , family or anyone willing to help. Or just share the post.
