Meet Stray—my new dog. ❤️🐾

He didn’t bite me because he was vicious. He bit me because he was terrified.

I chased him for about a city block because I was afraid something would happen to him. When I finally cornered him and reached out to grab him, he reacted the only way he knew how—he protected himself.

I ended up in the emergency room, but that was not Stray’s fault. It was mine. I entered the space of a frightened animal who had clearly learned not to trust humanity.

I carried him home and gave him a gated shelter in my front yard with food and water. At first, he was afraid to do anything. It was almost as though he had forgotten that happiness was possible.

But I knew happiness was still inside him.

I contacted the proper authorities because I wanted him examined and treated for anything that might be wrong. I made one thing clear: if anyone intended to euthanize a healthy animal simply because he reacted out of fear, I would not allow it. In my eyes, that would have been murder.

If an animal is suffering beyond recovery, compassionate euthanasia can be an act of mercy. But when a living being can still fight for tomorrow, let it live.

Stray did nothing wrong. Humanity failed him before I found him, but humanity does not have to fail him again.

He is now my dog. His name is Stray. He has visited the veterinarian, received his vaccinations, gone to the dog park, and discovered that life can include safety, happiness, companionship, and unconditional love.

He has cost me a pretty penny—and I do not mind one bit. He is a living being, and he already gives me more joy than most humans ever could.

We must do better for the animals sharing this Earth with us. We are blessed by them. We are fortunate to be part of their world.

Please share Stray’s story. Another frightened animal may be waiting for someone to see fear instead of aggression—and life instead of inconvenience.

Sometimes the best nights are the ones you never planned.

Last Monday—Labor Day—I was staying in Scottsdale and decided to take a long nighttime walk through Old Town. It was exactly what I needed after the chaos of Friday and Saturday, when I visited the emergency room at St. Joseph’s Hospital twice and was diagnosed with pneumonia.

The walk gave me some much-needed exercise, fresh air, peace, and time to clear my mind.

I stopped at Boondocks, enjoyed a nonalcoholic beverage, and met an incredibly friendly bartending crew before continuing my walk.

That simple walk unexpectedly led me to an incredible collection of exotic cars, luxury cars, sports cars, muscle cars, and speed machines represented by Supercar Experience. For quite some time, I was completely alone, quietly admiring these absolute works of art.

Then a gentleman arrived in a McLaren, stepped out, and told me about Supercar Experience—who they are and what they do. If you appreciate extraordinary vehicles, horsepower, speed, and unforgettable driving experiences, they are an absolute must-see.

My night continued through Old Town Scottsdale, where I discovered beautiful artwork, sculptures, and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams off Fifth Avenue—which was absolutely divine.

After the excitement of Labor Day weekend—and the fear and uncertainty of my hospital visits—Scottsdale felt incredibly calm and peaceful.

No schedule. No expectations. Just a long walk, friendly people, unexpected conversations, beautiful machines, art, divine ice cream, exercise, fresh air, and the calm after the storm.

Sometimes slowing down is exactly how we begin to heal and discover what has been waiting for us all along.

Please share this with someone who appreciates exotic cars, peaceful nights, long walks, or spontaneous adventures.

Meet Jasper. 🐾

I was stopped on 18th Avenue, facing north at Indian School Road, when this beautiful Siberian husky suddenly ran across the street in front of me.

My heart dropped. My dog Malachi, who looked very similar, was struck by a car and perished right in front of me. Seeing Jasper in the road brought that fear and heartbreak rushing back.

Thankfully, I got out and called for him to come to me. He came right over and jumped into my car. He was incredibly friendly, although understandably nervous and all over the place. I removed his collar so I could read the phone number and called his family.

They lived nearby, just across Indian School toward 16th Avenue, and Jasper was safely reunited with them. His owners have even invited me to visit Jasper whenever I would like.

What makes this experience even more meaningful is what happened just 24 hours earlier. I was at Margaret T. Hance Dog Park off Third Avenue with my Raja and my mom’s dogs when two dogs collided. One of them, Griff, fell to the ground and began convulsing. I could see the fear in his owner’s face.

I immediately called the closest veterinarian, and they referred us to the emergency veterinary hospital near 21st Street and Camelback. I offered to carry Griff to the car, which I did. I was surprised by how winded I became and realized how out of shape I felt.

I later learned that I had pneumonia, which may explain why carrying Griff was so difficult. I was checked in and out of St. Joseph’s Hospital twice within 12 hours.

Within just 24 hours, I found myself helping two dogs in frightening situations while dealing with an illness I didn’t yet know I had.

Sometimes you have to question whether something greater is at work—whether divine intervention places us exactly where we are needed. Because, boy, these past 24 hours truly felt like it did.

I’m incredibly grateful that Jasper made it home safely, and I pray that Griff is doing well. ❤️🐾 taken in Phoenix, Arizona by @rjbyasee

Jason, Andy (I think 😂), and baby Bortin. 🛹

Back when life was a little simpler and the only thing that mattered was what happened next.

No phones. No filters. No social media. Just friends, skateboards, and memories we didn’t know we’d someday miss.

Funny how one old photograph can bring an entire chapter of your life back.

Some memories don’t get old. We do. 🤘

Riding the lightning. ⚡️

Quentin by my side, lightning splitting the sky,
Another damn story we’ll be singing by and by.

Sometimes you write the music.
Sometimes Mother Nature writes it for you.

Been spending a lot of time lately turning memories, madness, and moments into music. Then the sky decides to drop a verse of its own.

⚡️ Ride the lightning. Capture the moment. Write the story. 🎶
