I am a child of God, of the covenant, and a disciple of Jesus Christ! | 🌴 CSBM & 🌲WSM

His Eye Is On the Sparrow

In the most populated country in the world with nearly 1.5 billion people I feel I had a chance to glimpse the love that God has for all of His children. For two weeks I was able to volunteer with an organization that taught nutrition education to both women and children in northern India. It was a sacred opportunity I will never forget.

Yet, seeing suffering and qualities of life I am not familiar with on a common basis made me reflect upon the love of God. Despite the blessing and privilege to make this trip, one of my greatest possessions is my understanding of the plan of salvation answering the questions where we came from, why we are here on earth, and where we are going.

I know that all that is unfair in this life will be made right through Jesus Christ. Death is an experience that will come to all of us.

We will not all be able to experience wonderful trips, money, possessions, or maybe even love in this life, but Christ offers His whole self as a sacrifice for us, so that all of God’s children may have the equal opportunity to receive all that the Father has.

“I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, for His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me.”

Our Savior’s love is powerful beyond comprehension. His atoning sacrifice can redeem us from suffering, sin, and even death.

Beyond the sorrow and suffering and pain in this world, we can still experience the joy that comes through the redeeming grace of Christ, despite what’s happening or not happening in our life. As our focus is on Him who has “healing in His wings”, our JOY can be whole and complete because of Him regardless of circumstances.

We are never alone because of Christ. Understanding the plan of salvation is a knowledge that can bring extreme peace and joy in life. If you know about it, ask God to reveal more about His plan to you in prayer. If you would like to learn more about the plan of salvation, reach out to missionaries in your area at ComeUntoChrist.com taken in India by @rjedwards2

The Greatest Pioneer I Know

There is no greater joy in knowing that through Jesus Christ we can be together with our families forever.

President Oaks has declared that “Jesus Christ is the Way.”

My father chose to follow the Way of Christ and enter onto the covenant path within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints over 30 years ago. His decision to follow Christ not only blessed Him, but his posterity as well.

“The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him!”
- Proverbs 20:7 (ESV)

I will forever be grateful for my father—the greatest pioneer I know. Because of His enduring discipleship, I have received the blessings of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and have been able to share that same good news with others.

I know my earthly father loves me more than I can comprehend now, and how much more then does my Father in Heaven with infinite love have for me!

I am thankful that God gave me a pioneer father, a true convert of Jesus Christ!

He is risen!

There are many images of Jesus Christ in my apartment, but I thought recently of how much I let them be casual in the background.

Our loving God cares more about the quality of our faith than the “appearance” in quantity of our faith. It is more important of our internal conversion than just an outward appearance of righteousness.

This Easter season as we celebrate the resurrection of the Savior Jesus Christ we can better reflect on the deepness and realities of our testimonies as we reflect on the deepness and realities of His wounds which demonstrate His infinite love for us. “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows” (Isaiah 53:4), and has “graven [us] upon the palms of [His] hands”(Isaiah 49:16), and overcame it all.

He is risen, and with this knowledge comes a reassurance that we will be risen too. Death has no sting, and through His atoning sacrifice all can be healed—especially families.

President Oaks, who I had the privilege of sustaining in person during the solemn assembly yesterday morning, has said that “the family is pivotal to God’s plan. … In fact, a purpose of the plan is to exalt the family.”

Let us rejoice in the continuing revelation through modern prophets that have helped me come closer to Jesus Christ. I am able to love my family more fully as I keep my covenants and follow the Lord’s chosen prophet.

I know that President Dallin H. Oaks is the mouthpiece of the Lord and is a witness of His name. by @rjedwards2

I have been drawn to the title of “Shepherd” for Jesus Christ these past few months.

Hymns and songs performed by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square have become some of my current favorites and granted me a lot of peace without thinking too deeply as to the significance of that title.

Recently, I received news that a path I felt I had received revelation toward, and confident I was pursuing the best I could, was halted. A door closed in my face that I had trusted was prepared for me.

After struggling with that news much harder than I expected these past few days, I have found myself drawn to one of the new hymns released in the new hymnbook, titled “Jesus Is My Shepherd” (1057). This simple hymn helped me understand more fully how my Savior is my Shepherd in this time of uncertainty, doubt, and disappointment.

“Tenderly He guides me with His gentle hand. Calm are waters where He leads.”

Though these new waters I have been placed are no longer calm, but rather overwhelming and seemingly drowning, I trust that His tender guidance will lead me to those calm waters despite my current circumstances.

I know that “Jesus is my Shepherd” and that “He loves me.” I choose to follow Him and He knows my name. We all need guidance whether in the good or the bad waters.

I encourage all people to “seek this Jesus whom the prophets… have written” (Ether 12:41). Seek this Shepherd who not only can, but will guide you to calm waters.

To you who are feeling stressed or anxious about the new year, or disappointment from the outcomes of this past year, may this scripture give you comfort in knowing the power and sure promise the Lord has for those who are faithful to their covenants with Him.

Ezekiel 36:36
“Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the Lord build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the Lord have spoken it, and I will do it.” by @rjedwards2

Let Him In

The Savior reaches out
just for you,
He says “Come unto Me,
and I will make you new.”
Glory to God on high
His name be praised forevermore,
By His goodness and grace
many blessings are in store.
Whether through darkness or trial
we will be able to see,
we will be delivered
through His mercy.
He will never give up
He is always in pursuit,
may we invite Him in
and nourish us with food.
Daily bread and living water
may we partake,
and in remembrance of His Son
give glory to His name.
“Deliverance is night!”
we may declare,
He sent His Son to save
His children everywhere.
A new day
may begin to unfold,
for He is the same
as in days of old.
The Light of the World
shines year round,
the gift of His Spirit
is the Gift most profound.
In the day of judgement
when we shall stand,
our covenant confidence may
receive us with His hand.
In our cry
for His relief,
He will provide mercy
for those who seek.
He knocks at our door
may we choose to let Him in,
so that He can change us
from within.
A new heart
He will give,
He asks us to
look to Him and live.
His glory to display
may we be surrounded,
through His covenants holy
we will be bounded.
We pray for His return
when He will rule and reign,
and the world will never
be the same.
May we enter in His rest
and always with Him be,
with those we love
with our family.
Families are forever
we have been taught,
His atoning love is infinite
and will never stop! by @rjedwards2

The precious gift of the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is truly of greater worth to me than diamonds or rubies.

In my Book of Mormon class this evening, I felt profound confirmations by the Spirit once again that the Atonement of Jesus Christ and His redeeming power are real now and every day through sacred covenants.

This sacred book has helped me better understand my deep and personal relationship with God as His son, with Jesus Christ as His covenant follower and striving disciple, and to feel Their infinite love for me.

“The Book of Mormon is Christ-centered. That is its essential feature, and that is the reason we are commanded to study it continually. We must use the Book of Mormon to bring us to Christ.”
—President Dallin H. Oaks

If you haven’t sincerely feasted upon the teachings of Christ and His covenant relationship within the Book of Mormon in a while, I invite you to do so and to repent. Repentance is a beautiful thing and intended to bring you upwards to God, not down! As you read, I promise and know that you will feel the power you have been hoping for more of in your daily life.

Daily bread brings daily spiritual nourishment. Without it, we cannot survive spiritually.

The Savior is coming again, and what a joyful day that will be! May we each prepare diligently by using the many gifts He has given us, gifts that are prepared, purposeful, and precious, like the Book of Mormon.

I know that President Russell M. Nelson was the prophet of God for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I was supposed to go to my first in-person General Conference in April 2020 with my parents. As a senior in high school at the time, this experience held more weight than even prom or graduation for me. Despite this disappointment, I did the spiritual work necessary for the first real time ever to be prepared and ready to receive revelation during that conference at home, sitting on the couch. I treated it as if I was actually there in person.

In the final talk given by President Nelson in that conference, I felt an overwhelming feeling from the Holy Ghost that Heavenly Father loved me and that His love was being extended through His prophet, President Nelson. It was a moment that I will never forget. I was overcome with emotion as we sang “We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet” from other nations following his message because, in that moment, I had gained a witness by the Holy Ghost that he truly was. And oh, how I thanked God for him!

I know that as we follow the prophet with faith in Christ, knowing that He is guiding His mouthpiece on the earth, we can be led to the fullness of the blessings of salvation and exaltation. As we repent every day from our sins, come unto Christ, and live within our temple covenants, all will be well.

President Nelson has taught me what true joy is. From his influence I will always want to Hear Him, let God prevail, think celestial, be a peacemaker, and minister to the one. I am joyfully optimistic about the Savior’s return and striving daily to prepare myself for that glorious day! #presidentnelson101 by @rjedwards2

Where Can I Turn for Peace?

A scab has been pulled,
with no time to be healed,
becoming a deeper crevice
for all of us to feel.
A broken heart,
yet others’ glee.
What has come
of the land of the free?
If roses are red,
they are crushed down.
If violets are blue,
they are burnt to the ground.
What is peace?
Do not ask me.
Peace I have not seen,
except in my dreams.
“We the people”
no longer stands.
Justice through law
is now in cold hands.
Contention and hate prevail
in the heart of man,
so much that they
forget the Creator’s plan.
They make themselves God,
with vengeance in mind,
except they forget
that He says, “Vengeance is Mine.”
So may we pursue
a different approach:
to be filled with pure love
and not with a scope.
Peacemaking we must,
peacemaking need be.
Where can I turn for peace?
The Savior says, Me.
For He suffered for more
than just all of our sins,
but also our infirmities and pains.
Through Him we can win.
With healing in His wings,
may we diligently pursue
and invite all—ALL—
to come join us too. by @rjedwards2

I am eternally grateful for the sacred opportunity and privilege to work as an FSY counselor this summer with the youth of this rising generation!

“The rising generation is rising up as stalwart followers of Jesus Christ” (President @russellmnelson).

I am also grateful for the co-counselors and other coworkers that made this experience unforgettable and life changing.

The mercy and wisdom of God is GREAT, and my soul is FULL of the love of God!

Doctrine and Covenants 6:36

As I have strived to “Look unto [Christ] in every thought,” I have been blessed to see myself and these youth as He sees us for who we truly are, and love as He would.

As I have strived to “Doubt not” I have been granted the fortified faith that can move mountains and overcome temptations.

As I have strived to “Fear not” I have been granted the peace and covenant confidence that helps me trust God and know that the second coming of Jesus Christ is a blessing of deliverance and redemption rather than destruction and despair.

THIS is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I invite ALL to come unto Him! Have faith in Him by seeking and increasing your faith in Jesus Christ, repent humbly of your sins right NOW, and accept and be faithful to His will and covenants that can not only connect you with Him on this earth, but a covenant that will help us be with our families FOREVER!

I know Christ is the Savior of these youth. I know He is mine, and as I strive to follow Him every day for the rest of my life here on earth, God will grant me His Spirit and bless me with His love.

Christ has truly manifested to me this summer that He is the Strength of Youth.
