Every once in a while, as my kids grow, I get these vivid glimpses of the people they are becoming. Sometimes it’s hard to watch—they make choices that I know are valuable learning experiences meant to build their strength, even when they bring pain in the present.
Bridger and I have had our moments across the entire spectrum. But he is, quite simply, an incredible human. He started out that way as a little boy, and he is evolving into such a remarkable adult. His heart is pure gold, and he loves people deeply. He’s driven, intelligent, and possesses my exact stubborn streak—which can make parenting him a challenge, but I know it’s a quality that will serve him well in life. He’s never really needed me to steer his life; he knows who he wants to be and what he wants out of life.
Right now, he’s in school full-time, working hard at a golf course, and today he had his very first hour in the cockpit. I bawled my eyes out watching his plane take off on life 360, and I sat at the end of the runway for an entire hour just to watch him land.
It’s a surreal feeling watching your child grow up. I feel like I’m standing on two sides of a chasm—one hand clinging tightly to his childhood, wishing time would stop, and the other watching him spread his wings and take flight into manhood. It’s this wild space where my hands are tied, and all I can do is sit back and watch him soar. Part of me hates letting go, but I know deep down that he is ready. I adore him, I am so grateful for him, and I am so honored to be his mom. by @rlast7

Portugal, July 2026. We went to Europe for Bridger’s senior trip. The guys golfed every day we were in Portugal and as much as they could wherever else we were, which is exactly what Bridger wanted to do. The girls hung out by the pool, in the spa, and at the beach. Portugal feels like a safe Mexico. I turned 40 here, Kev turned to 54. Travel Hack: Avoid crowds by going to Rome in July. 100 degrees with high humidity keeps all the locals inside. Note, the Vatican will always be insane. A local pointed out that Roma spelled backwards is Amor…apparently the true city of love. Italians are friendly and genuine and passionate. Happy birthday Kev! What a year it’s been. New grandbaby, new house, businesses started, businesses sold, graduation, moving, parade, time with family, last first dance recital, working, creating, hospital stays with family, evolving health, traveling to stay sane, traveling to visit family, golf and volleyball galore, frustrations, heartbreak, joy, exhaustion, and rest. Our lives together move so fast, and I’m happy to exist in the imperfection of it all with you. I’m grateful to have a partner, I’m grateful for our life together, I’m grateful for the adventures, and mostly, I’m grateful that you are here with me. I can’t imagine doing life without you.
