Née aux balbutiements de l’escalade, la varappe retient avant tout sa manière d’aborder les rochers. Pratiquée à l’origine par de vrais passionnés, de manière bien informelle, elle résulte d’un amour pour les éléments qui nous entourent et la simple envie d’aller les découvrir.

Roland était là avant l’âge d’or des stations de sports d’hiver. C’est en gardant les vaches de ses parents qu’il a commencé à crapahuter sur les rochers avoisinants. Quelques 60 ans après, Edgar (@edgarcheylus) et Jean ont grandi les skis aux pieds. Baignant dans un milieu où la montagne n’est souvent considérée que comme un terrain de jeu, ils cherchent eux aussi à simplifier leurs aventures, trouver de la beauté dans leurs lignes, et vraiment profiter de ce qui les entoure.

Le temps passe mais, empli d’admiration, le regard posé sur la montagne reste le même.

Une génération passe. La roche, elle, demeure.

60 ans séparent Roland de Jean, l’ami d’enfance d’Edgar Cheylus (@edgarcheylus). Pourtant, face aux rochers qui les ont vus grandir, le temps s’efface. « Éphémère – La Varappe » est l’histoire de ce lien silencieux que seule la montagne pouvait créer.

Last summer I had the opportunity to help my good friend @jules_bellot on a project he had going on with @weazydavis. It wasn’t only about Craig’s skiing but more about telling his story, meeting his friends and family who’d tell us about the Weasel: how, as a kid, he was always be up for mischief and always outside. Craig also showed us around New-Zealand to the places where it all happened. It all gives you a glimpse of what shaped him into becoming who he is. Grateful for meeting Weazy and everyone else along the way :)

‘WEAZY’ is out on Arc’teryx Youtube Channel so you can get an idea of your own. I filmed the 16mm and framed a few interviews but @jules_bellot did all the magic, congrats and merci ❤️ by @rllado
